Am i the only on here that thinks the ride kind of stinks. Its way too firm, not soft, not like an S class, Chrysler 300 or 7 series

Not sure how long you've had your car but when I picked up my 2015 XJ I felt the ride was too firm too. It turned out they had left all the tire pressures at the transportation 50 psi...

Ride was much improved after dropping them to 32.

depends on the year of your car

2011 - people usually complain about the firmness of the ride
2012-13 - few tweaks, later cars are supposedly better
2014 - onwards - suspension was tweaked again

Can't speak for Lincon ( I live over the pond - Europe - we dont have Lincons here ) but I had a 750iL and my Jaguar rides more confortable - not heaps, but it does and its noticable.

S Class is more confy - but then again, handles like a tanker.

My car is a 2014 and I trully believe that its an epic balance between confortable and sportiness. not overly sporty neither confy and handling like a boat.

YMMV

ups, reread your post - you said C300. We have them over here.

Nope, my XJ is worlds better confort wise than a C300...

You have asked many questions and I refrain from replying to any forum member that asks us to be mind readers. All we know is that you drive an XJ but you have no year or model mentioned. It would be nice if you created a signature that tells model year, model, and XJ or XJL.

I'd say if you don't like the ride then best for you to sell it outright or trade it for one of the
others you mentioned.

I think the ride is fine and not harsh at all, and I looked at the s-class 7series, audi a8 before I bought my xj I thought the xj was better than them all, in performance comfort the lot, but we are all made different

Here is a list of cars that I have recently owned: 2007 Lexus LS460 SWB 18" Wheels Michelin Tires, 2007 Cadillac DTS 18" Wheels Bridgestone Tires, 2010 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 18" Wheels OEM Dunlop Tires, I changed them out for Michelin Tires, 2014 Buick LaCrosse 19" Wheels OEM Michelin Tires, I changed them out for Pirelli's.
Out of all the car listed my 2014 Jag XJ 19" Wheels OEM Pirelli Tires is the best riding car. Now I know that of all the cars listed this car has the longest wheel base which helps with the better ride but I also contribute the ride to the Pirelli Tires.
The Pirelli Tire is one of the quietest, on all road surfaces and smoothest riding tires that I have ridden on. I have tested allot of tire brands and much to my surprise the Pirellis have become my favorite.
The Jag also has a nice suspension and the car for it's size handles and rides very well. IMO as far as smoothness of ride and minimal tire noise, the 17" Wheel and tire is it. Once you leave the 17" Wheel and Tire and move upward, it is more about performance than ride comfort and quietness.
I think most manufacture have done a pretty good job adjusting suspension to give a better ride with the low profile tires but there is only so much that can be done when you are looking at better performance and handling.
I am Old School and as far as safety, performance and handling go I would prefer to adjust to the ride of some of the cars today with the low profile wheels and tires than to go back to the cars of yesterday.
I do not think I will ever do 20" Wheels, 19" is my limit.

20 inch and Pirellis - I'd expect a firm/harsh ride.

I'm running Michelin Pilot Super Sports on 20" rims and absolutely love them. They run quiet and give the XJ superb handling and ride. As my wheel widths allow me to run XJR sizes (265/35Z20 & 295/30Z20) and run 39PSI the ride is smooth, quiet, and very responsive, So far I have 14k on the set and may get anothe 2 or 3k out of them. Very recently Michelin had started manufacturing the PSS in XJ sizes 245/49Z20 and 275/35Z20 and at that size I run 38PSI. My PSIs are one pound less than recommended on the door sticker. for me any less makes the XJ bouncy.

to be honest I don't notice, think they also give good grip to,B rating in the wet, BACKS are Pirelli roso normal tyres, FRONTS are Pirelli nero all weather tyres, that's what came with the car when I bought from jaguar dealers

There again, one person's good feel great handling is someone else's harsh ride revealing too much about the road surface.

As i know the first Xjs were very firm (mine also) so Jaguar made some modifications to the suspension allready fo the several times to make it more smooth. 2013 cars are much softer than 2010 and i doesn't depend on the tyre manufacture.

I came out of an Infiniti FX45 when I bought the Jag. The Infiniti suspension was sports tuned, kind of stiff compared to most SUVs and I liked that it felt tight and sporty especially with spirited driving in the twisties. In fact I installed a custom strut brace to make it even more so.

The Jag's ride feels more luxurious by comparison but still maintains a nice sporty edge to it. I think the low ground clearance contributes to that. Overall it's a good balance. That said, I think a lot of people equate a luxury ride more with the soft pillowy feel of a Lexus or Cadillac where you glide along barely feeling any contours of the road. Not my particular tastes but I can relate to those who like that sort of thing.

As a former owner of a 2007 Lexus LS460 with 18" wheels, it was not a pillowy ride. As a matter of fact I think the ride with my JAG XJ AWD 19" wheels is better.
There where some owners who not only complained but bailed out of the LS460 because they could not adjust to the ride. It seemed like everybody was looking for a better tire than the OEM's to improve the ride. I know I ended up having to have the dealer to replace the tires on my car with Michelins.
After 9 months of constant issues, poor service from the dealership and Lexus Customer Service, I cut my losses and traded out of the car.
Cadillac due to Low Profile tires is IMO no longer the pillow ride of old. Once again I will take the ride of my Jag over the ride of the Cadillac XTX with the same 19" wheels.

Turning off dynamic mode will soften ride a lot.

Also I agree, the best way to soften ride is to get Tom Brady to let air out of your tires. A 35 lb inflation will make the car feel like a cloud on wheels.

Also depending on your drive style or climate your tyres will warm up more rapidly And gain more pressure. So become harder And less grip if over psi. Like Said before here, let some air out And experiment with this, friend had the same prob with his 911turbo, harsh ride And no grip, let air out and when on temp he was the happiest man on the road.
