Default Radiator Fans NOt Stopping. Draining Battery

As the title says, my 2013 XJ Portfolio, has fans that come on a minute or so after stopping the car but never stop.

Now I know they run after driving, but this is when the car is cold. They totally drianed my battery, 2 nights ago after my daughter used the car.

I disconnecetd the battery, charged it up over night, reconnected it. Then 1 minute or so afterwards, fans roar into life like a jet engine, with an engine that is at -2c, as its cold here right now in Ontario (-8c)

The external temperatiure guge also reads the totally wrong temperature as well, shows -35c, but its actually -2c in the garage.

I will drop it off at th emechanic in the moring, but any pointers? Thermostat etc?

Default found the problem

Water got into the ECU enclosure.

Fortunately, a good clean & dry and everything is back to working properly. Lucky escape.

That looks terrible - good thing there wasn't any permanent damage!
Be sure to clean it with a good electric contact cleaner, then apply a good electric contact protectant to prevent it from returning worse than you found it.
CRC has some good products for that.

Thanks a bunch for coming back and posting what happened! We get so many dead end threads. I think your shop did a good job finding it.
How did you clean all that corrosion out? It looks bad.

Did you determine how the water got in the enclosure?

I would add dielectric grease to prevent future problems.
