Default Recommendations on headliner re glue?

Getting in my wifes xjl today I brushed up against the B pillar interior panel and pealed off a large portion of fabric. Has anyone tried to re glue this type of material before?? I have tried doing headliners on trucks in the past and never had much luck. Any advice on this is appreciated!

The only way I have had it look worth a **** is to remove the panel and take the fabric completely off. Then clean the plastic real good and glue the entire thing back on. It depends on what the cloth looks like when you get it peeled off because anything will show thru after you redo it. So be prepared to track down some interior fabric if things go south.

When I have done headliner work, I have had good luck using "3M Super 77 adhesive". It is for automobile upholstery. The trick with it is you put a light coat on each surface, give it a minute to get tacky and once you lay it, leave it. So, make sure you are sure that it is where you want it. It will stick really good and once stuck, getting it back apart may not be possible without damaging something.

Like was mentioned, it may be easier to simply pull the headliner out, rip all the fabric off, then reapply. This way you can work out all the stretched fabric. In the case of doing a full headliner, you spray around a sunroof, attach, let set up. Spray another 2 feet around that, attach and let set up. You then finish with the rest at that point. Getting too much going at one time is going to result in failure. TRUST ME!!!!!!!

My CLS had this in the rear and it drove me absolutely nuts. I eventually got it to hold long enough to not have it sag while trying to sell the car.

I used Permatex Headliner glue. I had to wait until it was relatively cool outside, under 75 F, and use multiple coats, but it eventually took care of the issue. Any time i tried it when it was warmer than that, the glue wouldnt adhere properly. As long as you are able to spray both sides after clearing off any loose debris, it should hold pretty well.

Took the panel to an interior shop this morning and will pick up on thursday. I figured it would be best to spend the $125 to get it fixed the right way!

The interior shop promised pick up for Thursday but had it ready today. As you can see in the pictures they rolled the fabric over the edges to prevent this from happening again. As for the motorcycle seat I saw it on the counter and thought it looked cool!
