Default Timeframe for 2012s

I'm holding on my XJ purchase for the 2012 model year with the hope that the first year bugs get worked out. Also, I can't find the exact vehicle I want. Does anyone know when we can expect the new 2012s to arrive? FYI - I'm in the DC metro area.

I placed my order on July 1, order was locked on July 18, and my delivery date is Nov.1 According to my dealer, I'm getting one of the first 2012 shipments. So would expect to see 2012's on the ground in November.

Thanks, barryf43. I was hoping it would be sooner, but it would make sense for the rest of the 2012 model year cars to be coming in no sooner than the one your built. Is the Azurite Blue exterior new for 2012? For the 2011 XJL SC models, I see Crystal Blue Metallic and Indigo Metallic. Great choice on the London Tan interior - that's my choice as well. I would definitely have bought a 2011 if I could have found the right color combo and was not leery of the roof popping issue.

We are in the same boat. I really want the car, but I couldn't find the color combo and equipment (i.e. adaptive cruise control) in stock. I'm hoping that the roof issues will be addressed on the 2012 model as well.

Azurite Blue is a replacement for Indigo Blue due to the Japanese earthquake. It's actually a darker, richer blue, looks black at times. I was not a fan of Indigo, but really like the new color.

Any noticeable changes for 2012 model? Also little off topic but just a curiosity, how big is the XJ gas tank? 21 gallons? What's the average range?

The XJ tank is 21.1 gallons. I have been consistantly getting 18.5 MPG in the city, but on a recent road trip got over 24. I usually gas up at about 350 miles, but could easily get 400-450 on the highway.

Minor changes to option packages and external colors. Smaller smart key, in response to complaints from many 2011 owners.

Also, warranty changed to 4 yrs./50,000 miles (from 5 yrs./50,000 miles). Jaguar still provides no cost scheduled maintenance, but is dropping coverage for "wear and tear" items.

This is a pretty significant change. Not only does it equate to several thousand dollars in additional maintenance cost, IMHO it diminishes the resale value due to the shortened warranty period. Might be a good reason to grab a left over 2011.
