Default Tire pressure sensor

Hey mates, I just bought a set of Matavia wheels for my 2013 XJL from a straight up guy on this site. Since I am not disposing of my old wheels and tires I need TPMS units for these new wheels. I have been to several manufacturers sites and no one lists units for my Jag newer than 2012. Does the 2013 Jag still use the 315MH transmitter freq?
Of course, I could just go to the $$$ "D" source but I do not think it is necessary at this point. Somebody else has bought spare wheels for their car and recolved this problem. Let me know what you did, could not find a previous post that resolved this for me. Thanks, Jag52

Your local friendly discount tire store should have a TPMS scan tool that will read the transmitter frequency, among other things. They may even have aftermarket sensors at a reasonable price.

Odds are that the frequency is the same as the 2012 sensors 315MHZ..

Thanks, I will drive over and see if they can do a quick reading... If so I can easily get 315MHZ sensors almost everywhere.

Default tpms

Did you find a fix for this? I bought mine off Ebay for 100/set and had my local NTB install them. Dash Light Warning went off after driving for a day.

This is an old thread, but thought I'd bring it back instead of starting a new one.

Here is another thread with F-Types. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f...-162046/page3/

My 2012 has 315 MHz TPMS, and I'm in the same situation as OP, new wheels incoming without TPMS.
Does anyone know a suitable aftermarket TPMS that they know have worked? (Barring any supply quality issues).

My understanding is C2D38979 supercedes C2D10072, C2D15551, C2D21601. However, I'm leaning towards finding some of the older ones if possible due to cost.
I also understand they must be activated prior to use, then installed.

I went through this awhile ago and simply purchased all 4 from Jaguar. They do not need to be activated, once you start driving the car will recognize them.
C2D38979 is the ones I purchased. You don't want to purchase 5-6 year old sensors as the battery life is supposed to be something like 5 years.
Stick with the new number and check the date on the package.

Good idea, didn't think much of that. Thanks. Can anyone suggest good aftermarket or VDO TPMS that are confirmed working?

I used to be pretty confident about which TPMS sensor to use for each car, but after reading the F-type thread it does seem pretty arbitrary. But as you have an older XJ using the 315MHz frequency, you should be able to use VDO SE52029 from Rockauto. I use those on my 2010 which also uses the 315MHz frequency. The best way though would be to check what is on your current wheels.

All the best.

Thanks Nedoerr, the firsthand experience is appreciated. Did your installer have to do anything out of the ordinary?

No you just install them and then drive for a couple miles until the TPMS light goes out. Your tire place may think they need to do something to them to activate them; they do not. They come pre-programmed and will be picked up by your car after a few miles of driving.

All the best.

Hi, Finally problem solved:
I mailed several friends and partners with my problem and from a wheel-exporter I have received a box of sensors.
Now in my XJ all 4 are original JLR / FoMoCo and system runs correctly ( auto-recognition works... as it should )

As I have more sensors than I need I can sell the rest... If there is interest...
New sensors, never used in vehicle.
Removed from new JLR wheels because wheels were exported to Europe (the frequency is 433MHz in Europe).
Both TGB1B and TGB1C sets are for sale: US standard 315MHz. AH521A159CA, 6G921A159AB, 4H231A159CB and BH521A159CA
Mail me if you are interested in...
