Default Is The Windshield Cowl Supposed to Clip Back In Place?

I removed it for some engine work, and when I recall moving it it felt like it was either stuck or clipped in.

Now that I put it back, it doesn't seem as sealed or as clipped in as before. Did I miss something? I'm going to be parking outside for a bit and don't want water draining where it shouldn't

That cowl has a small plastic lip the gets inserted into a thin slot under the windshield. Most of mine peeled off when I removed it, yours might be the same.

Mine isn't peeled off, it's all intact. It just doesn't snap back into the frame like when it came out

If you have it aligned and the nut tightened down to spec on both sides, I think you're good. You may have to mess around with alignment before tightening down again if you have lippage so to speak on the cowl/glass mating surface. There's a set of small locating features but nothing like a pin/clip from what I remember. I pulled my cowl/wipers last month and didn't notice anything special. Around the nuts there is a rubber grommet/spacer. Mine fell off when removing, so check you have evenness on both sides and that it didnt fall down.

On both sides where rain drains there are adhesive/velcro finishers that are kind of only good for a few remove and replaces. The adhesive wears off, the velcro just locates them to help channel water. It's not watertight.

I use some silicon spray on the lip on the cowl and groove at the windshield to help install. Couple light taps with your hand and it should go in.

After replacing the brake booster in mine sure enough, the adhesive on the velcro fasteners gave way. A 2 part expoy later and it's set like concrete so will never give any further issue. Shame they cut corners on such a basic thing.
