Default XJL, 2016, electrical issues

I have two issues:
1) for some reasons my dome and door lights don’t come on when I open the door. Sometimes they do but go off within few seconds. It is very annoying especially at night time with the family. I have tried to push the mid button of roof light but didn’t work.
2) for last many months I get the message ( dash board ) when I turn off the engine “ low battery start the engine or the system will be off after three minutes “?? . How to get rid of this message and do you think this message does have some connection with the problem 1) above.
PS: Battery is not new ( 1 1/2 years ) but this message is there for last 10-13 months. I never had a issue to start the car

Dome and door lights should come On when you unlock the car, so you propably feft you vehicle unlocked and doing so, you stress test your battery enery time. XJ will protect you remaining Amps in battery and will shut systems off if needed, for securing next engines startup. This could be an explanation your issue or microswitches on your door locks are playing up.
Your battery can be bad too. (even its quite new)
How you shut down the engine if you can still get dash messages after turning off? By Start and Stop system, not pressing an button?

On mine, the dome lights stopped coming on with the door open, and I held my finger on the dome light and it blinked and now it's set to come on.

The low battery message is a common theme. Try trickle charging the battery to full and see if it keeps doing it. I get that message when I make short trips a lot. But then I put it on a 2amp trickle charger and it's fully charged with an hour or 2, so I think Jag has their sensitivity turned up too high on the warning message. If it was truly low, it would take many more hours to charge.

Thanks .
do you recommend, like few other members, to connect a smaller battery in parallel with the existing battery to avoid this message issue? Btw, I noticed when I bought this Jag ( year 2019 ) , a small red and black power cable connected to the battery while the other end was just left loose? I just threw away that piece of cable. What do you think purpose of this cable by the original owner?

I don´t know anybody having added small extra battery. On years 2013...2016 (or -17) Jaguar had an small battery for Start and Stop function, but it is not paraller. Latest models small battery have been changed to the condensator by factory. Normally there are no need for extra efforts to keep XJ going. As above table shows 1990:s vehicles had double of sleep battery drain than current vehicles. Jump starts were more common then so it was minded more "normal" that the battery was empty than nowdays.
Propably these have been charger leads. If you don´t use you vehicle a lot it is good idea to use charger. Been leaving my XJ for 4-6 weeks in airport without any problems, and currently i use it only in weekends without having problems.

You should have an owners manual?
Here is the page telling you how to turn the interior lights on and off. We do have a free copy in the stickies at the top of the forum?
It would be wise to get a copy.

Here is the page from the owners manual;

Post back if this does not work.

I know your new but batteries are a problem on some XJ's. Locking the car and putting it on a CTEK maintainer if not driven regularly will help a great deal.
I can't explain it but the life of the battery is all over the place? I just changed mine after 10 years! BUT I have seen other cars that need them replaced every couple of years.

Is the current battery the correct AGM H8 battery? Just something to check.

Post a picture of the cable your talking about as it's hard to figure things out using written descriptions.
