Which year/trim?
Hi guys, first post here on the xj forum, ex f type owner looking into owning an xj.
I have done some basic research and looks like I should be looking at a 2016 or 17 price wise.
Now my question are these:
1) xj or xjl?
It's gonna be driven solo 99% of the time as a daily, any reason to get the L?
2) supercharged or R?
Do they use the same V8 just tuned differently? I enjoyed the one in the f type.
Any suspension change between the two? I'd prefer the softer one.
3) how is the upgraded meridian system?
4) were double panned windows an option?
5) were air suspensions an option?
Thanks!

1. I think you'll find that most US X351s are long-wheelbase version. Here, the Portfolio trim option on the SWB nearly equaled the XJL price, which had Portfolio trim as standard. This forum seems to be equally split favoring SWB vs. SWB.

4. Insulated glass is standard on all models
5. Auto-leveling rear suspension is standard on all models.

i have the “L” with a Meridian Reference system. I’ve heard the “regular” system I guess in loaners. Let’s just say I was glad to get back in my car to play music!
Ray,
Your signature says it all. You won't be satisfied with anything but the 5.0L SC engine. It ranges from 470HP to 575 HP, and you can easily upgrade the 470HP version to over 600HP with a pulley, tune, and exhaust mods.
Mine is the SWB and no one has ever complained about a lack of legroom in the rear seat.

Does the swb have folding rear seat? I'm assuming the lwb does not.
For my daily usage the back seats will rarely be used, it's like my personal yacht.
The extra four inches is all in the back. If I had had a choice when I bought the 575m I would have opted for the short wheelbase. As for the rear seats folding down in SWB, I don't know, but they do fold down in the XF. Good hunting.

Be aware that the "Reference" system only adds speakers to the backs of the front seats. So you only gain if your sitting in the rear seat.
The next significant change was the addition of the Kevlar drivers to the woofers. I considered adding those front seat speakers but decided instead to upgrade all 4 doors and the 2 rear deck speakers using the Kevlar "Reference" drivers.
But it can be done and don't forget that if adding the speakers to the front seats it also requires some CCF editing to reconfigure the digital amplifiers.
