Default Any point in paying for Topix?

Hi. Is there any point in paying for Topix?

I mean are there any module updates etc that would be worth doing on my 2004 XJR? (I have a genuine Mongoose cable for this)

I already have an old Toughbook with SDD v131 on it, but it's pretty old, has anything been updsted since that release?

I need to reflash one of my modules as the radio thinks its in an x200 amd my cd changer and phone etc dont work - it doesn't recognise them. Also need to recalibrate my suspension height.

Wasn't there an upgrade for the torque converter locking/unlocking while warming up too?

If you have the full version of 131 all of that should be current for your car.

Thanks, so are you saying the updates are stored within SDD then? It doesn't need to go online to pull update files from a server somewhere?

Yes, The full version includes the updated files to the point of issue. Since it covers up to 2012 there won't be any additional updates on TOPIX. Since you actually have a version on a Toughbook I would think it is the complete version.

Well they can be. I always run updates when I open SDD until it tells me there are no more updates. This can require several updates to get them all. I am currently using V164.xxx and may go to V165.xxx since I recently got a full copy. So far I have had all the files needed because if you don't SDD should tell you and try to retrieve the files from the Jaguar servers. As posted above we all have old cars and Jaguar long ago stopped updating anything about them.

Have you attempted to run updates on your version of SDD? Hopefully you have all the files you need.

My understanding is that the updates you get in the more recent versions are to bring you up to date for the more recent models. If you are only fixing x350 none should apply to it.

Thanks for the update guys. Very helpful.

Can you point me in the direction of the full version of v165 please? That seems intriguing.

You can download the newest none VOIP version directly from Jag - no TOPIX required for download. However to use it you would have to log onto TOPIX unless you can find the illegal 'crack file'.

I also have a 2013 Land Rover which is covered on 131. However the newer versions do add additional functionality/updates for that vehicle since it was new at that time.

Where would one go to look if, God forbid, they were going to crack their version?

The crack file works on most versions. It is a separate 'program' that modifies Jags offering.

Sorry being illegal I can't do that. Internet search may be your friend, though most if not all have been removed.

Tempted to pay for it, bymit £75 per day is extortionate. I wonder would anyone else chip in, even half a day each or something.

When I used 131 for my 2013 Land Rover it did go out and update some files. When I used it on my 2004 X350 it did not update anything. Neither one needed updates when using 164.

Try our UK Jaguar forum friends as they have a lot of SDD info.

I post this thread pretty often as they have made a number of complete software images of different versions of SDD. It was a very good bit of work!
I am a member and if you sign up you could post your questions to another group of experienced Jaguar guys.
Might help?

Take a look.
SDD Image Thread

Now that is an 18 page thread but if you have worked with SDD before you know this is usually what happens. It's a rather large and complex undertaking! But well worth it and it's all free too.
With many ways to install and run SDD. Remember there is no "one" way but many variations.
