Default "CDC Error" when I select the CD player

I get this error when I select the CD player. I think a CD is stuck halfway into the player part, because when I try to remove the cassette by pressing the button it does not come out. I presume I now have to remove the whole unit and dismantle it to release the CD, correct ?

some times pressing eject ,
then tapping firmly on the magazine/cartridge with a plastic handle end of a screw driver will release it .

Or a hammer
look past the magazine and see which tray is accessed. Use a small whatever tool to try and get the cd back in the tray as this is most often the cause. Hit a good pothole and knock the cd out of the tray and wont play or eject properly

Try inserting (to the back of the tray) a thin blade either under or above (I cannot remember which) the CD Tray and sliding it from right to left whilst pressing the eject button; worked for me.....

it happens to me.
In fact, the Stype, Xtype and X350 they all use the same CDC. They all have the same problem.
I found out this issue always happened while I am selecting the CDs. The dealer told me maybe the magazine out of shaped? They ask me to replace a magazine and it will cost me around $120 USD, but I did not do that.
Many years ago, my way is to insert a blade tool to push the magazine up or down even pull my cd back to magazine, it works sometimes.
Actually I have changed 2 CDCs already, they works perfect at first, and finally I found the way to solved this problem is to disassemble CDC unit and lubricate the gears inside.
For now, it never happened to me again.

Apparently, the problem is often a small plastic cog at the back on the left side of the changer. I tried the blade from right to left more than a year ago now and never had a problem since....

Guys, many thanks for all this advice ! I am reluctant to go out there and do anything because here in England it's not so much the cold, but it is terribly damp and wet ! The car is too large to get into my garage which is heated. Actually the Midget is in there right now waiting for warmer and dryer days.

Other thing I get when I turn on the rear screen heater is terrible "fish-frying" noises on the radio - "sch-schschsch-schsss". It drivers you insane when you're listening to some nice music. Only thing was it seemed to carry on even with the screen heater off !! Now it seems OK.

Maybe I'm not being kind enough to this kitty.

Thanks to all who posted comments re the CDC Error messages. I had that problem yesterday, and followed advice to tap the cdc magazine when trying to eject it, and voila, out it slid. So, add one more "It worked" to the list of those who've experience the problem. Thanks.

Well, my CD cassette never came out and was still in there when I part-exed the car last January. Now I have an XE, I have no CDs in the car anyway.

Come in Fraser, you can DO this! As several forum members said, a little patience, a thin blade or small screwdriver + a flashlight (you folks call themselves "torches" but I always picture those along with pitchforks and angry townsfolk, lol), and you will be back in business. It's easy to see which tray is stuck, then just gradually slide it back into the unit, .01 mm at a time, it feels like. Once it's all the way back in the magazine, eject will work, then just make sure all the discs are laying flat in their respective trays.

You know why this happened right? Just like you, the kitty doesn't LIKE being out in the damp and wet while that little MG is warm, dry and appreciated! It wants ATTENTION!

Better go do it now, before it really throws a tantrum. These cats can get pretty mean when they want to.
