Do I Jump?
I am looking to pull the trigger on a low milage 2008 XJL with NAV. I really love the car, there is just one thing holding me back and that is ipod connectivity. I have to have music, and carrying around CDs just doesn't cut it when I have thousands of songs on my iPod. I have read a lot of post on the Audio Connectivity Module a.k.a. iPod connectivity kit. Based on what I have read on this forum, Jaguar does not recommend installing this in the XJ, although I have read that some have done it with no issue. I see that there are FM Modulators that plug into the antenna port, but it appears that the JAGs do not use the standard antenna connector. My questions are as follows:
1) Is the Audio Connectivity Module an option for a 2008 XJL? Why is it no longer available for the XJ?
2) Does anyone have experience with the FM Modulators? Do they require a special adapter, and where does the antenna plug into? Is it the back of the NAV head?
Thank you in advance for your assistance. Not having iPod connectivity is killing me.

I Am trying to post pics of my ACM install. Its been in for a month and I have had no problems with it. Currently just using it as an aux input for satellite radio but have used it with a USB stick for testing
Mick, Jaguar has no official explanation for why they deleted the ACM from the X350 catalog. Official statement on the withdrawal of the ACM for the XJ attached to post 11 here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=50299
The ACM is a less-than-ideal solution though it seems to work fine for some. You need to shut off the car to switch back to using the CD changer, USB drives larger than 4GB are not supported, and you get no song information on the navigation screen despite the ACM disabling iPod controls. That being said, the ACM is not FM modulated, so you don't have to worry about interference.
I do not personally have experience with plug in style FM modulators. They go inline between the head unit and the the antenna. This appears to be the type of connection you get if you buy the Sirius kit from Jaguar parts.
You can call Crutchfield to ask if the FM modulator will need an adaptor. They have friendly and knowledgeable customer service agents and a flexible return policy but may not be able to answer your question as their website states they have not done research into the X350. Here are the FM modulators they currently sell.

You might want to ask the opinion of Jake1, he states in Post 7 here that he has added an FM modulator with a Chrysler antenna adapter: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=44942 I'm surprised it's not a Ford style antenna, as they owned Jaguar at the time.

I too love having ipod music in the car. My 06 did not have nav so it was an easy decision to replace the stereo with a pioneer avic with ipod/bluetooth/nav. I love the bluetooth being part of the sound system.
The 08 Indigo I was looking at was sold, but I did find an 07 XJ8 with 32k miles. The family and I took it for a test drive and we were sold, and could not be happier. I have decided to go with the DICE FMRDS USB Pro for iPod connectivity. You can either use the included remote control or the iPod itself to select music and it will display the artist and song info on the display. Installation also looks very straight forward.
I will post pictures if I can figure out how.
