Default Exhaust upgrade.......

Ok its about time the old girl sounded like a V8...
....
I believe I have two options.

Install the whole thing

Remove the first two mufflers and replace with a straight pipe.

I can only find videos of XJR's on YT so I can't go by that for the sound......

What are my options.................

Yea that was gonna be my next questions.........the emissions should not be a problem . I had a few high hp Mustangs that would not pass emissions......but I know a guy nudge nudge.

Im wondering if anyone did the straight pipe thing and needed a retune to go with it.........

Ive seen an exhaust ......cant remember the name right now....begins with m I think....but I've only seen that on xjr's

When i had my Xj8, i removed the center muffler and it gave it a nice rumble. Wasn't loud unless i got on it hard. I was happy with it. How loud are you looking to get?

I had a similar wheel set up on my xj8 as i do on my xjr now. 20x9 up front and 20x10.5 in the back. I have the same size rims now, but different make; tires are a lot more aggressive now too. This combo looks great and gives it a sporty look without taking away the class these cars are known for. Your ride will not be as comfy though.

As far as tires,I have Pirelli P Zero 255/35/20 up front and Toyo R888r 285/30/20 in the rear. I was just looking this week to change them out for new ones. I will be going with Toyo Proxes T1R up front and Toyo R888r in the rear again. Those tires hook great. A bit noisey. They make a whine sound, but i can barely hear it over my exhaust now. Those are all pretty much summer tires which work for me year round here in FL.

As far as exhaust, like i mentioned, the XJ8 had a nice rumble/burble to it and it wasn’t obnoxious. Factory exhaust with the center box replaced with pipes. My XJR is full 3” straight pipe with a 3” x pipe. This one is very loud. I don’t daily it anymore, so its fine. But otherwise it would be a bit too much.
