Default ford fuel pressure sensor

Hey folks. I'm trying to find the genuine ford part 3r3e9f972aa fuel pressure sensor. Can't find anything online that doesn't look like a cheap knock-off and I've already been burned with a faulty one. Does anyone know of a good source in the USA? I've got relatives and friends I can ship to and get the part sent on if they don't ship international, so no problem there. Just thought I'd check in and see if anyone can point me in the right direction before I buy another Mickey Mouse part. Possibly even a known good vendor on ebay or the like? I'm quite happy to pay the money, I just can't seem to find the part in New Zealand. Ford here say the part is discontinued which seems kinda weird considering all the Fords with that part getting around on the roads.

I'm just interested for future reference whether you are claiming Shorters/Beachams/Jaguar Workshop were unhelpful? Or Paul Walbran Motors for that matter. (with price as a separate issue)
And SNG Barratt, whilst in the UK, advertises here.

So what's the problem? (genuine question, not trying to wind you up)

If you are asking for a Ford part, you must be price-conscious, and where did that lead you?

It was my understanding that this part is ostensibly a Ford part with a lofty price tag reserved especially for Jag owners. To be fair, my next step was to in fact to call Beachams today. The others (sans SNG) I was, for the most part, unaware of. Archibalds quoted me a price north of $400.00 and with a long time Volvo owning history, I am accutely aware of the Christchurch parts department penchant for desinger spectacles, gold cufflinks and repudiate slant.

A couple of years back I drove my family fron Nelson to Ch-Ch to visit my parents. While we were there I had a transmission ouput speed sensor fail, which put the car into limp mode ie. stuck in 3rd gear. Archibalds was my only choice on a Saturday morning to repair by Sunday morning. They had a part that was for a different model with incompatible plugs etc. I was held over a barrel to the tune of $500.00+. On top of that I had to cut the plug, establish polarity and fiddle with soldering and heat shrink.

I guess I'm attempting to find the happy medium between genuine oem and rubbish knock-offs. The identical Ford part seems to fit the bill. I'm not a total penny pincher, but it does rev me up when they take the **** like that.

Lead times, shipping and component shortages are accute at the moment, but it wasn't always that way. I know what it cost to bring a product to market. It is also extremely likely that the pressure transducer is sourced from the same manufacturer and fitted into a plastic case of whiich the tooling was paid for many years ago. MOQ's for Ford would run into the many 100's of 1000's and although apparently obseleted, doesn't seem fair at that price. Forgive me for trying to save a few bucks.

Oh I see. Ohhh...Eewww...

Shorters (Archibald & Shorter i.e. Giltrap) actually refused to service my Jap import. Beachams seems ok though *so far*. Their prices for bushings and headlights seemed as expected, but then they also got the job.

Thanks meirion, I bought one like this from ebay and once fitted all hell broke loose. Was faulty methinks. I'm going to fit a glycerin filled analog fuel pressure gague on the weekend just to confirm pressure at the rail. Then I think I'll buy one more locally. More money, hopefully less hassle.

What do you make of this one https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16889584005 It was mentioned in the cross referenced parts over on the S-Type forum. Doesn't list X350 weirdly.

should work fine, it’s what most auto parts stores carry.

maybe the local dealer can cut you a deal for the jag boxed part, it’s the same price as the motorcraft

The plastic spigot on the side of the fuel gauge is prone to cracking since it sits on top of the engine.

Also is the vacuum line ok?

Mine gives odd readings when I watch realtime data with my scanner. Sometimes it works and gives normal ~55psi and sometimes it gives nominal 15.2psi static. I know that the engine cannot even run at such a low pressure, hence my belief it's an intermittent fault. Oh, and it also sometimes reads 75psi, which is also unrealistic imo. I'll install a gague at the weekend and see what the truth is. Perform leakdown test etc. I'm quietly confident it's the sensor.

They always like to point out how unfashionably old my car is. My cars & bikes have always been a bit behind. Oldest car - 1954 Auto Union, Oldest bike - 1954 BSA C11S, Newest car - 2006 Jaguar XJ8, Newest bike - 1988 Matchless G80 (went fully café on it).
