Headrest DVD's
Any one install DVD headrests in their car? Can't seem to find OEM headrest on ebay, etc... Aftermarket never seem to match or don't have the piping!
Like many I have read on this forum, wish I had been here before I bought. No DVD, No Bluetooth, no rear climate control. I thought the VDP was the Top of the line version.
Thanks.

I went thru quite a bit of research on head rest DVDs and decided in the end to put in a center console screen. Anybody in the rear can watch a DVD and it is connected to the NAV screen so a passenger up front can also view the same DVD. Physically accessing the DVD can be done from up front easily as well as the unit swivels in several directions.
It is not as good as a headrest DVD and with my setup it will not connect to the cars sound system so anybody listening uses a headphone which is good for the driver.
I was already involved in installing a rear view camera using Navtool which has the extra AV input so I thought I would install the DVD player.
The arms also rub against the seats if you move the seats backwards and forwards. I am satisfied having achieved my objective however would not necessarily recommend this route.

Hi Jackra_1,
I like you solution, but prefer the headrest view angle for the passengers (my kids).
Hi Veffremov,
There is something about having the DVD in the headrest that adds to the Lux factor of the car. iPad make more sense for functionality, but I prefer a fixed screen solution.
From what I have read on other threads the dvd wiring probably isn't there and i wouold be a colossal task to install.

Hey Fab, on what Veffremov the great said, as far as ipads, if you look @all the new cars now that have some sort of media on back, pay attention to what they have. It's not DVD players/screens
Hi Marque,
understood, some sort of tablet solution is best. I would still prefer an headrest integrated unit. Just wondering if any one has actually installed one since purchasing there car?
Cheers.

The biggest issue with adding headrests is matching the OEM leather. You can get a headrest screens for S-Type and they are not too hard to install, but you have to live with a headrest that is different than the seat and that would not pass mustard for me.
OEM screens for jaguars are very rate and there is a whole lot of wiring that needs to be done. it is probably more economical to sell your car and get one with the screens in it.
You would need the two headrest screens, a video switch module, a rear entertainment control module and finally the DVD player module. If you manage to acquire all these you would also need all the cables that connect them.
