Question Help needed to identify parts not connected in the trunk

Hi all,

Whilst evicting the mouse from my boot/trunk I noticed a couple of things that appear that they are not connected. As I don't know what the parts are I'm not sure if they should be connected to something.

Can anyone help identify what these items might be and if they should be connected to something?

Between the battery and the rear fusebox is the first item - arrowed in the picture below. It's a rubber hose that runs along a plastic holder and drops down to the floor where is seems to exit the car. One end is just open and not connected to anything. Is this just a breather pipe for the wheel well?

What is this rubber pipe?

The second is some sort of electrical connector. Is this just a spare connection for some equipment I don't have? I can't seem to see where it should be connected to. It just has one wire to the plug. The wire is brown and white.

What is this electrical connector?

Thanks all. I'm just a bit worried that these should be connected to something as I've found some other very sloppy work in the wheel well. Bolts and nuts missing, loose parking sensor module, battery not bolted down properly etc etc.

Thanks,

Chris

looks like the battery vent pipe to me, there should be a plastic elbow that it connects to and it attached to the top /end of battery,

Thanks dvjag - great help. Looks like the rubber hose should be connected then. I'll have to check my battery to see if mine has a vent connection. I think someone removed most items in the wheel well at some point and was shoddy at putting it all back.

The other is probably for the transit isolation relay - make SURE it cannot short to anything!!

Thanks so much JagV8, Wingrider and dvjag. You've all been so very kind being so helpful. It's very much appreciated. I'm looking into these now. I'll strap up the electrical connector out of the way of harm and I'm looking at the battery vent. I can't seem to find a vent on the battery currently in the car but I'm sure there is one somewhere. Once I find it I'll fit the pipe or some kind of extension pipe if it's in another location on the battery.

+1 for the battery air vent.
But not sure current Jag batteries have an air vent.
At least the Varta's I use don't have.
May be sealed

My current AGM battery in my X350 did come with an air vent with a plug in it. After removing the plug, the 90deg elbow that was on my vent pipe pressed in snuggly. The vent hole in my last several batteries has been on the side of the battery, near the top, on the short side.
