Hello all,
I just bought my sonan 04 XJ8 and he is looking to begin customizing it. He wants to get these wheels but I don't know if they'll be a good fit or what would need to be done to make then fit. I know the bolt pattern and hub bore are right but I don't know anything about offset or diameter/width that will work for this model year. I normally just keep my cars stock
.
They won't fit in the wheel arches, they stick out 34 mm more than the stock ones.
Okay abiut and inch and a 3rd. So then they will be just about even with the furthest outside point of the well. Would there be any other problems with it beside that esthetic?
By "pneumatics," he means if the air suspension sags and the car drops, the fenders will sit on the tires rather than the tires going up inside the fenders. Tires generally move to much to have the body resting on them directly...
Years ago I bought a Mercedes S55 that I knew had issues. That car had hydraulic active suspension, and the previous owner had installed monstrously wide wheels, and the tires showed damage where they'd rubbed the fenders repeatedly. The absolute first thing I did with that car was go back to stock size wheels and tires, and cursed the previous owner and his next seven generations.
Some states have laws about tires being outside the fenders. Usually mud flaps are required if the tire is not within the fender, just to keep the tires from kicking stuff up behind the car. The idea is for trucks, of course, and putting mud flaps on the Jag seems rather gauche.
Not sure how strict enforcement would be, but it's something to bear in mind and check out before investing in stuff that could cost money in fines.
Not sure if this is helpful. But I have found that a lot of S60 and V70 Volvo wheels have similar fitment to our x-350s. I just picked up some OZ Hyper GTs from a Volvo enthusiast. 5x108, 19x9 ET42. Fitment is great in my opinion. A lot of those Volvos were 18x8 or 18x8.5 which would be a great inbetween to not sacrifice ride quality with low-profile tires. Let me know if you want pics of the new shoes.
Maybe someone else can add to this but the wheels I picked up second hand had a center bore of 75 I believe. My local tire shop recommended getting hub-centric spacers to reduce the center bore from 75mm to our 63.4mm. I did as I was told of course...
Yap, I discovered it too. Got 21 wheels from Volvo S90 on my Edge ST and 20 from Range Velar on my Cat, look awesome with ET -4mm on both cars. Perfect fitment with no additions.
