j gate shifter stuck.
It will go from D to the left hand (manual shifting) side, and from D to N, but it won't go from N to P or R.
I really hate to get a new j gate when it's probably just some cheap part stuck, dislodged, or dirty - and therefore not connecting.
ARGGHH!
What to do?
I've done the reboot thing by unhooking the battery for the night. I've checked all fuses. I've checked the two bolts under the transmission.
Could it be the interlock switch or the footbrake switch? And if so how do you replace them?

Thanks, but.... I did that!
I took the console off, and loosened the j-gate. Just feeling around in the j-gate moved something and the shifter went back to park. But remains in park and will not shift.
Does anyone know how to check the interlock switches (one is in the footbrake)?

I recall a recent thread concerning this common problem. The fix was to inspect the underside of the car, paying attention to the fasteners which secure the shift linkage. Seems that bolts self-loosen, and back off causing this sticky shift condition. The Forum Member tightened the nuts and bolts and sped off! Good luck and please report back.
That's a fix (I did it anyway, and loctited the litttle buggers in tight!) if you can't change gear while driving, since the cable is loose, but my problem is the shifter not moving at all from park.

There is a manual selector interlock override on the side of the J gate unit it looks like a small handle that u turn clockwise and anti-clockwise.
The brake switch is a plunger type of switch and is located just above the brake pedal.
