Jim Roals - Hacking the CD changer
Hi there out in "Jag-Land". I have been searching the forum for the CD changer hack(Jim Roals guide) to enable me to link in a aux input to the X350's cd changer. I have the Premium audio system which sounds great until you want to do anything "modern" like connect a mp3 device!!
I have read but not found a reference to a document that gives instructions how to butcher, hack etc the existing 6 cd changer that gathers dust in the boot of my car and give it a new lease of life. Anyone with any information on how to do this I would very much appreciate the information.
Thanks and have a good week!

Hi BazzaR,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums!
Hopefully one or more of our members will be able to help with your question.
In the meantime, we're a friendly group around here, so please visit New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum and post an introduction to tell us something about yourself and your X350.
Also, it's a good idea to add the model year, engine and trim level details to your signature by visiting your user Control Panel. Hover your cursor over your username in the upper right corner of this page, and click the first menu item, "User CP." In the left column of your control panel, under Settings & Options, select Edit Signature and add your vehicle details.
Cheers!
Don
Thanks this is exactly it , not sure if this will work for the x350 with prem sound system, nothing ventured though!. I am going to try and hack into the changer once I figure out how to remove it and see how far I get.
Really appreciate your reply thanks again

The pdf is for the X308 I have no idea if this guide with work for my X350 with Premium audio running on fibre if someone knows you could save me a job of pulling the changer apart otherwise I will post an update on the success of failure of the mission!
I want to go this route as well. I believe the x308 is different from our x350 fiber optic system.
I would like to solder in leads from the aux input directly to the circuit board in cd changer. Seems to me the cleanest hack if it's doable. I need a cd changer to dismantle to be sure.

Well I stripped the CD changer down completely and I can confirm on the x350 premium sound system this will not work. The internals are completely different as it use ribbon connectors to pass the data/music feeds. It was worth a shot.
