Default Key Programming

Hi All
After a good few years of Jag ownership and several successful key re- programs I am unable to re program the keys on my latest car (2005 XJ6 Sovereign). Going through the procedure using the headlight flasher and ign key at position 1, I hear the bleep after 4 flashes but nothing at all when I press a button on one of the remotes. Maybe nothing to do with it but the car battery had been disconnected before I picked up the car. I wonder if a module needs to be re-programmed?
Any advice most welcome.
Thanks,
Pete

Were those successful key re- programs on a similar age, same model, car?

I suspect you'll need IDS/SDD or the equivalent.

Yes same model just a year older. There are only so many times you can do the same thing without success so I've got a few things to check today and if it still won't play ball I'll be Indie bound.

How old are the battery's in your remotes?

A shot in the dark.

Tried today between torrential rain showers, Car battery fully charged and new remote batteries. Still no joy. I get the bleep every time and the PATS light flashes but it just doesn't see the remotes. Looks like a job for the nearest Indie.

Maybe I'll buy a Nissan Leaf

Because you're getting the beeps, it sounds as if you have the driver's door open, which is part of the process. But, if not...

That's a bit cryptic wmlaven. Do you think maybe I should have it closed? I'll try that tomorrow. I've tried everything else do nothing to lose.

It would seem that the system is doing everything it should except see the signal from the key fobs.I wonder if there's a problem with the ariel that receives the signal or the receiver. I've no idea where these parts are except that the ariel is built in with or around the back window. The fobs are both sending out a RF signal but of course I can't tell the frequency. I wonder if my iCarsoft reader would tell me anything? If it ever stops raining I'll have yet another play with it.

I thought retirement would be all feet up and endless relaxation.

Naa better to have Jag problems that keep the old gray matter churning.

Latest on my key fob saga:
Following various attempts to pair the key fobs and lots of theories as to why they wouldn't play ball, I took the Driver's Door module out and sent it off to a company in Gillingham Kent to be tested. The service is advertised on ebay and costs £20 which includes return postage. They confirmed that the module was faulty and supplied a replacement with a 5year warranty for£180. The replacement module is cloned so no programming is required. Everything working as it should now ............till the next time.

The Company is: Electronics Services Kent. I think they do other modules as well.
