Modern 'vinyl' roof solution
Hi Guys & Gals, just indulged in a 2006 XJ 350 - beautiful car, replaces our Aston Martin more than adequately.I wanted that archtypical lates 80s look with a vinyl roof - dark body white roof - sadly here in Australia theres no one left doing that stuff, but a friend suggested using modern vinyl wrap which has been 'worked' by computer vinyl operators to look like original 'crinkly' vinyl. The sample vinyl they produced was amazingly authentic. I am having it done on Tuesday so if anyone is interested I will pass complete details later.
On another topic I am not happy with the awful surround to the cup holder section of the central valance, does anyone do a walnut part to cover this? (maybe i am missing a part?). This too I am investigating (found a wood dashboard man in Brisbane), so will report on this development too.
Kind regards to all. Peter L Briggs

It's a matter of taste, of course, and really none of my business, but my personal feeling is that putting a vinyl roof on the car is simply disgusting.
Here's one that was posted here about 10 years ago, and in the thread, was not well received at all.

Here's another one I found that's actually for sale in Palm Beach. (It probably fits their style there, actually...

People should do what they want to their cars to suit their own taste. Who cares what anybody else thinks.
