More rear Pasinger Door lock
2004 XJR 350. (Right-hand drive)
Hav a problem with the rear offside passenger door not opening.
It was just the one door I tried various things, operating both handles together all the other worthy suggestions all without success.
I tried but could not get the door lock to release, using the key fob would operate the other 3 doors.
Sitting in the car locking and unlocking with the driver's door internal handle, the other 2 doors would operate but not the rear Offside passenger door which seemed to be completely dead, both internal and external handles working freely operating nothing.
Eventually I was resigned to having to remove the door card with the door closed, understanding this can be done but have never attempted it. Then suddenly I pulled the external door handle and the door opened ?
Before closing it remove the door card. Then operated the door countless times and it worked perfectly?
Now I'm loathe to put the door back together without finding the problem.
My thoughts are running to the micro switch that I understand is inside the lock and as several posts have pointed this can be a problem.
So my question is if a micro switch is faulty on one door would it only affect that door lock.. It seems logical to me at this point but knowing the interconnecting dependability of the systems on our cars I am unsure. The wiring diagram (Please see attached) shows two Passenger Locks each receives its own outputs from the rear electric module (REM).
There is only one Passenger Door lock Latch shown. Its motor takes its feeds from just one of the rear passenger door locks. The lock/ unlock status switch is built into the Passenger Door Lock Latch module and has two inputs to the rear electric module.
Information and views gratefully received.
Regards Bill

In my experience the micro switch can work intermittently until it fails completely and when it does
it only affects one door to answer your question.
I suggest that you leave the door card off until you are absoutely sure that the door will always work
or change the latch with a good used one.

Exactly same problem on my newly aquired 2003 xj6.lhd
over the button on the dash , by remote key, or door look with the key itself.
Rear passenger door left side has absolutely no reaction but the window opens.
so tried to push against door to open , tried inside and ouside latsh at the same time , tried the lock latch inside . Nothing... but the the other day at high outside temp the suddenly unlocked from the outside , but only once.
took the bottom seat out unscrewed the first door card from inside. Luckily the bottom basket in the door card was loose so I could unhook the lower plastic screw. Used the same place to unhook the whole first doorcard.
Then I took the lower plastic holding the door seal in place out in order to remove the dor seal , to take of plastic caps and unscrew inner doorcard to take that one out as well.I have a spare breaker car wher I trie to figure out how the system workes them am using those pieces out of the same door.
