Just scored a brand new, old type of Mongoose Pro.
Found there was a couple of old ones still in house.
Now i need to find out just what else i need to acquire, and how to use it.
Anyone have any information to share?

Next you want to get a hold of either IDS or SDD software and a decent laptop. I find the Panasonic Tough Notebooks to be suitable.

 

IDS will do you NO GOOD.
SDD DVD125 is the first issue to use a non-VCM pass-through device.
Many seem to use SDD 130 as it will default to legacy IDS if the car is older.

 

Great to know, because i am having issues with their download of SDD.
The guy trying to help me register my unit.to work, says all but the SDD is in the unit.
So do i buy a disk over the internet?
A friend has a laptop unit for this purpose in a few days.
Just trying to get all my ducks in a row, then how to use it.

I keep referencing back to my VCM that allows me to use both platforms.

 

I just deleted all SDD versions except SDD 129 from MY DRIVE google account to make room for something else.

I sold my DrewTech Mongoose Pro to a forum member years ago when I got my Rotunda VCM.
There should be a bunch of versions from forum members that can tell you the best one for older cars.

How can i download the SDD program to my Mongoose?????????

 

You download it to your computer and SDD should pick up the Mongoose when the program is running and you connect the Mongoose via USB port to the computer.

SDD install can be very frustrating to say the least!

this is SDD130, it’s a spanned archive so you only need to extract and run autorun from part1. the VM images suck, do not use. install the legit drewtech driver from their website. Use a laptop with XP Pro 32-bit, 7 32 bit works as well.

SDD is a pretty crappy piece of software and is missing stuff for the VID block cars. good Rotunda VCMs are under 300 bucks and work with the real IDS and SDD.

Aren't most computers 64 bits now instead of 32?
Seems that i was told that this could well be my problem by Drew tech.

 

It's an ancient program so just get an old PC with 32-bits.

 

OK i have a 32 bit laptop on the way, but where to acquire the V130 SDD seems to be an issue now.
V160 seems to be what is offered, by the venders, on Fleabay,
Will this SDD let me, say open and close the internal valves to bleed the ABS system, & program new modules?

Want to get it right this time, he was here for almost three hours.
Could not load the Drews download, to load on the laptop he brought.
Guess that was a good thing, if you have pay to make things work.
That is why i was asking where to buy it, would just spend the money, & avoid any issues..
Just to make SURE, it was going to work out right, this time!!!!!!!!!!!
This guy is a friend of mine, over 40 years, i just don't want to waist his time.
The neighbor has Wi Fi or wireless, said i can use their driveway.
To download the laptop, without a cable this time, because i don't have ANY wireless stuff
So it appears that i have everything needed now, on my end, so things get finalized this time.

My Mongoose is NOT A CLONED UNIT !!!!!!!!!!
But a GENUINE MONGOOSE INTERFACE CABLE, for Jaguar, Land Rover.
That was purchased directly from Drew Opus.
My friend is having issues getting the V130 loaded onto the computer.
Trying to stay away from the internet .
Just have the V130 downloaded, onto a computer, then onto a disk, with the Mongoose cable.
That way about any computer could be used
W T F, this should be simple, or at least easier than this is

 

Spent several months trying to download the 130 on an old XP computer and getting it to run properly . Purchased in a I carsoft scanner happy camper.

 

Sometimes I think this website runs on SDDV 130
