Default OEM oil filter

I remember seeing this post a while back but couldn't find it. Going to change my oil in a few days , should I get the Factory C2C41611 for $31,00 or are the others like Bosch & Fram OK . They seem to be any where from under $10 to $31 Does any one have a recommendation.

Hey pragmatic, thanks. I read that was a highly rated filter above Mobil 1. I actually found the filter not to far from my work.

Wix makes good filters, been happy very with them on my bikes, as well as cars.

Mann or Mahle for me. Probably Mann/Wix is the OEM.

Wix makes a whole lot of others, or so i've been told, by those who will sell you any brand, that you want to buy.

From the research I have done over the years I would suggest you do not use a basic Fram oil filter. I suppose some (myself included) have used them at one time or another, but for a expensive (Jaguar) or high performance type on engine, they do not have a great reputation. Fram does make a high performance filter that has ample filtration and bypass ability but they are not known for their high quality filters in the low cost area, especially compared to other filters. Before you buy any of the ones not suggested above (or even for the ones suggested) you can google oil filter construction and various check out quality issues. The Fram may do just fine and does in fact work for many users but for the $$ I personally would use any of the others suggested first. Wix or Bosh may even make the OEM filter for all I know. I do know that Jaguar does not have a oil filter division. However they probably do have exacting specifications for their filter since almost every aspect of their engines are tight tolerance/clearance and almost high performance. Compared to other mass produced engines that is.

Personally, I have been using nothing but the factory OEM engine oil filters on my 2005 Jaguar XJ8L. In fact, I have been obtaining mine on eBay from a place located in California, Including shipping, the oil filter for my vehicle will run around $20.00 USD which is more or less reasonable. For an expensive and high performance car like this, I wouldn't dicker around with the after market filters.

I suggest you use the Jaguar OE or MANN W 713/29, which is the same filter.

The original oil filters may have been made by Visteon, a former division of Ford (the original air filters were marked Visteon and packaged in Jaguar boxes). But I agree with Box and abonano that the oil filters Jaguar currently supplies are made by Mann and are excellent filters with both a non-return valve and a bypass valve. For many decades Mann has been an OEM to Jaguar, as well as BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audi, Volvo and other major automakers. Rock Auto offers the Mann W 713/29 for $14 and our local NAPA stocks them for $20.

Cheers,

Don

I change the oil at 5,000miles. Use cheap filters from Rock Auto. Some are Hastings LF, Mahle, Denso. All work fine.

I put a little magnet on the filter at the closed end. It might help. I suppose I should use a magnetic sump plug to monitor filings.
