All that information and a plethora of other XJ8 related information can be found in the "How To" thread at the top of this forum. Hope that helps.

The cost of the correct stuff is eye-watering and if a proper flush is done, the shop have to use more than the gearbox and torque converter hold in order to clear all the old stuff out. Essentially, some of the new fluid flushes out the old. The well-regarded Jaguar specialist that did mine in 2012 used 10 litres @ £15.50 a litre. New sump assembly which includes the filter cost £95. Good thing it is only required every 50-60k miles !!

X350's - ZF 6 speed transmissions call for Lifeguard 6 - there is a cheaper option - Motorcraft Mercon SP fluid - again, as mentioned - flushing will be necessary (repeat drain/fill) - you can expect to get only 6 liters in when entire unit holds north of 10 liters.

A local transmission company offers two fluids: Lifeguard, or Pentosin (cheaper). They say most people opt for Pentosin.

Do you have an X308 or an X350? They have different engines and transmissions. The X308 has the 4.0L with a Mercedes 5 speed transmission and the X350 has the 4.2L with a ZF 6 speed automatic.
