Parts source (especially for Canada)
Where's a good source for parts?
I prefer online since Canada is so spread out (and some don't ship to Canada).
What I need right now is a replacement undertray and brackets/bolts. Mine got damaged.

I already shop ebay, and have used Jagbits (but apparently they don't ship the undertray).

My understanding is that Canada does not have a large independent Jaguar parts specialist, so most owners order from the U.S. A couple of independent specialists I've had good service from over the years are Coventry West (coventrywest.com) and Welsh Enterprises (welshent.com), but other suppliers that receive positive reviews are Terry's Jaguar (terrysjag.com) and forum sponsors SNG Barratt (sngbarratt.com/Home.aspx?b=US) and Jagbits (jagbits.com). It pays to comparison shop, and the forum sponsors offer discounts to our members.
For new OE Jaguar parts, good sources are Aristocrat Motors in Merriam, Kansas (jaguarmerriamparts.com) and Gaudin Jaguar of Las Vegas, Nevada (gaudinjaguarparts.com), both of which sell at discounted prices. Compare the shipping & handling costs between the two, since their parts prices are often identical and only the S&H costs vary. For good salvaged OE Jaguar parts, eBay is a good place to find sellers who are breaking a car of your model and year. If they don't have the part you need listed on eBay, use eBay's messaging system to contact the seller and inquire about the part you need.
Cheers,
Don

Don is right, I purchase 90% from the USA and have them shipped to a mail box just over the border. Shipping to Canada is much more expensive, there are import fees, and can be long delays. For me, it's worth the 1.5 hour drive.
Jagbits ships to Canada every day and has for years! I have the undertray in stock and can ship it today. Jagbits is also a forum sponsor and we offer a 5% discount coupon to all forum members it is FORUMS-5% the part number of the undertray is C2C30347 to see the part details or to order online, go to New and Used Jaguar Parts for XJ6, XJS, XJ8, XK8, S-TYPE and X-TYPE and put the part number into the search box, then click the red colored Add to Cart button and continue checking out.
Thanks,
Gary

Gary-
That's great news, thanks for posting. Could you elaborate on your shipping methods please- many retailers are willing to ship to Canada but will only use FedEx, UPS or similar. These carriers impose mandatory brokerage and handling fees at the border that can raise the total landed cost to a ridiculous level. In many cases the shipping cost exceeds that of the part itself. Fulton has outlined his 'work around' but many of us in the great white north are not in a position to conveniently drive to a border crossing.
If not already considered, using USPS (post office) is a great alternative as the import process and cost is far more advantageous for us.
Thanks!

Jagbits just phoned me - seconds after my email!
So kudos to being absolutely on the ball.
Unfortunately it does seem prohibitively expensive to ship so i'll try the dealer.
But if anyone has more online sites that ship to Canada let's see them!

Have you tried the dealer? Prices in Canada have come down a lot lately, you might be surprised, I was when I bought rear park sensors, $117 cdn, cheaper than some of the discount US places, before shipping!

I logged on to the dealer and got the on-air intermediary chat person who is doing a search for me. I'm waiting for the dealer to phone or email me.
Jagbits was much quicker!
A lot of those online chat people are third parties, that also look after the web site, often not even in the same city. Calgary Jaguar has a toll free number, if you don't already know. BTW should have been a comma after $117 cdn, re-read it and could be implied it is $117 cheaper.

Just in case you don't already know, at Jaguar Forums you can edit your posts even after you've submitted them to the forum. It's one of the greatest features compared to older forums where once you posted it, you had to live with it forever. I correct my posts all the time after I realize what I meant isn't what I wrote!

Don

Thanks for chiming in!
No fault of yours, but it should be stated that the shipping quotes provided by UPS as referenced above don't quite tell the whole story. There is another charge tacked on at the border by UPS to cover customs brokerage, duty (if any) and sales taxes. The brokerage charge alone is in the area of $30-$50 which makes the total cost of bringing in the part unaffordable. By comparison, USPS/Canada Post charges a $5 fee and don't bother at all for most small low value packages as it's not worthwhile for them.
That's the reason for preferring USPS by many Canadian buyers.
Cheers!
Jag dealer in Reno has it @ $240, still shopping.
