Performance Tool OBDii - Should It Work?
Would like to read the codes on my 04 XJR. Performance Tool sells a code reader that looks simple to use. Has anyone had experience with this one? Did it work? It is very inexpensive.
Thanks, Jack. I tried reading some of the other threads & candidly, was not left with a sense of confidence. The one mentioned above is the one that a local parts house uses to give a "free" read.
Since I would read the codes so seldomly, I'm inclined to pay the dealer $150.00 per read. However, since we're in one of the more opulent places in the world, the dealer is so busy, I almost get into an accident in the parking lot every time I go there!
If I buy, I would like one that is easy to use & can read & clear codes. Anything more sophisticated than that will likely be wasted on me.

The iCarsoft i930 is what I use. There is a newer model available now I believe.
Its easy to use unlike the jlr sdd software that I also have which I use for programming when needed.
Can not do that with the iCarsoft however it will do what you want including resetting fault codes.

Been using the i930 for several years. I tried a clone with old factory software, Mongoose, and old computer. So clunky it never did as much as the iCarsoft.
Watched a factory tech code a key with new Jag computer and software. Still clunky. Super slow.

JLR SDD is difficult to use, but not slow on the right laptop set up, and has saved me $1,000s over my sold Jaguar XJR and my Range Rover.
Watched a senior Jaguar tech spend 45 minutes typing and waiting to code a key. Not a smart key either. His rig seemed better than my clone. But still seemed outdated.
Maybe the new owners have invested in software.
