I have a left hand drive 2005 xjr
I have owned it for 3months or so. I am guilty of being abusive with the throttle. I noticed pink fluid leaking in the front of my car by the bumper..... please heavens tell me this isn't a several thousand dollar issue....steering feels fine. No codes on the dash, brakes well, shifts fine. Doesn't drive any different....

 

I'll have a guess.

Pink/red fluid could be transmission fluid, power steering fluid, or even coolant (more usually green/yellow but dont know whats in your car). A quick look at the colour in your coolant overflow bottle can rule that in or out.

Is the fluid on the ground watery or oily? , stick a bit on your finger, feel and smell.

Out by the front bumper a % guess would be a leaking transmission cooler line/fitting if its oily , or a coolant leak if its watery. Power steering drips would be a little further back.

Get a good light and see if you can find moist areas and follow them up till you run out of moist.

If you get these things early you can contain the cost. Absolute cost? anyones guess at the moment. One thing for sure, the cost is only likely to go up if you do nothing. Well spotted :-)

Just to add to Steve's excellent advice, there is a power steering fluid cooler at the front of the car, so it's possible your leak could be P/S fluid even if it is farther forward than the steering rack itself.

Also, the correct color of coolant in an X350 is orange, and coolant leaks are fairly common in the hoses and even the coolant reservoir itself. The Owner's Manual specifies coolant meeting Ford specification WSS M97B44 and colored orange. GM Dex-Cool is a popular forumula that meets this specification, and it's available from various makers such as Prestone and Zerex.

Finding leaks can be challenging, especially if they are small. Sometimes it is easier to look at night using a flashlight, which reflects on the leaking fluid and makes it more obvious.

Check the rack and pinion, mine was leaking a picture know fluid when I bought the car. Easy enough replace.

Although, kinda not so close to the front of the front bumper.

 

Steve is correct about diagnosing leaks and Don is right about the orange coolant. One question I have however: do you have headlamp washer nozzles? Pink leads me to believe it could be washer fluid and it could just be a loose fitting. Just a guess but if you are handy and have the tools and space you could pull the under tray and bumper to have a really good look. It is a fairly straight forward procedure.

 

So it was indeed trqnsmission, I paid 1100 for it to be fixed 2hich included new lines. Now however I'm seeing new issues and livid spoke the the owner erwin of the shop. We are working on resolving new issues, being 1) throttle will jam and not respond nor allow for ram above 3k. Wtf? 2)And horrible clunking noises 3) engine shuddering and not running smoothly upon starting

 

I was going to suggest one of your front suspension wishbone bushes may have split. One day I noticed pinkish/orangish type fluid on the floor near the front bumper. Had a look and it was coming from the wishbone bush. I replaced the part and everything was good. But if it were that, it would leak just the once and be done; it wouldn't be a continuous leak.

 

See if you can get the codes from your vehicle from Erwin and post them here. There is a wealth of knowledge here that is free and people will direct you (typically) in the best way to get the issue resolved with the minimum amount of fuss and $$$.
