05 vdp, this car is fairly new to me and after turning off the motor I hear clicking sounds resembling a hard drive.
Any suggestions....
Also is there a way to stop the passenger side mirror from showing my rear wheel. Would like to keep the mirror level when backing out of my garage. Thanks....
Find out which fuse controls the mirror, then pull it.
Unless it controls something else, that you want to still work.
In that case, disconnecting the ground wire, should work.
Well before you begin buying stuff I would suggest that you use the Search tool using search term "IDS and SDD", and read all about it.
You need the pass through device(like the one you found on eBay or similar), a suitable computer, IDS or SDD software and an DC power source attached to your battery.
Then after you have it all figured out, go to it.
Clicking from the dash?
Make sure the missus isn't secretly texting in the passenger's seat. I wondered why I had two cars with the same problem.
(these cars are quiet you know...)
Looks like a Mongoose clone to me.
Genuine Mongoose is blue, and has Mongoose on it.
Instead of J 2534 Pro, its a roll of the dice.
Have heard of both good and bad results from Chinese clones.
My genuine Mongoose cost me $600 + sales tax.
From Drew Opus technologies, the makers of the unit.
Now looking to acquire the V130, ISD/SDD software, with a 32 bit computer.
Thanks, I will seriously do my homework before buying anything.
It is a strange clicking sound resembling an old hard drive that my computer use to make,
maybe it's uploading all my movements to my wife's cloud!
No, but seriously it's interesting to know if anyone has had this before. The car is not fitted with
an ECM and does have the NAV and an intermittent sounds like a hard drive coming
from behind the ignition switch area that runs after switching the motor off for a few minutes
then silence.
My 2005 Super V8 makes a noise much like you have described, I just get out of the car fast so I don't get too "invested" in it. My independent Jag mechanic heard it as well and and theorized it might be some partially stuck HVAC venting, it hasn't seemed to impact any operations thus far so for now I'm sticking with running away but I'll be interested to see what you discover.
Well I don't. I just knew there must be some advantage in owning a 6...
The best resolution so far is Superman - runs faster than the speed of sound.
Seriously now, it is true that for a while there I was holding the keychain with it's dangles to see if that was clicking, it turned out to be my wife clicking text messages. Due to some evolutionary quirk my eyes can only see forward. I know what you're thinking...but dumbidity is also an evolutionary quirk and not my fault.
Other than that, I'd be inclined to do a drive with the entire ventilation and fan off.
And speaking of "hard drives", my CDC player does often "stick". That's in the boot, but what I'm saying is take any CD out of the console. Or tune to something other than WWV.
P.S. if the car was moving, that's a stone stuck in the tread. Our ears are largely non-directional.

There is a small hard drive that using the gps acquires your position whether nav is selected ot not.
It starts chattering to the DVD disk and loads the area information ready to go when needed.
Remove the disk and it shuts up, except for still acquiring gps position which is just a quick click
every now and again. Sitting in my driveway I didn't hear anything till I reinstalled the disk.
