Speech Recognition Inop
No matter what I do or say it shows "speech not detected." Any ideas where to start.
I hadn't used it in years. This evening I installed the new 2011-2012 Nav DVD. It went thru some kind of software update. The map seems to work fine but the speech is inop for everything-not just the Nav. Could the two be related?

I read a thread about Jag deactivating Jaguar Voice on some 2011 models. When I put this new disk in it went thru a software update. Now my Jag Voice doesn't hear me.
I have a msg in to the guy I got the disk from but no answer.

I asked the dealer about it but they haven't received their shipment of disks yet. They did mention that Jaguar voice has had issues, although mine has almost always worked save when everything stops working.
If your old nav disc has the firmware on (LOADING.KWI) you can force it to reload that to make sure it isn't anything to do with the firmware from the new disc.
Put the old disc in the nav unit, go in to the setup menu on the touch screen (hold down the phone button and menu) press 917 then enter then use the software update button to force the nav unit to read the firmware.
Jaguar don't recommended downgrading firmware but I have flipped my unit backwards and forwards a few times without issues.

On mine 1971 mainly gives me more options and a cancel button so that you can get back to the standard menu.
One other thing I noticed is that with 917 it prompts you to insert a firmware DVD whereas with 1971 it detects that there is no DVD and offers to boot from 'cf' instead.
