Squealing noise on cold start.....
It's gotten quite cold here in the Midwest and my '06 Super V8 (Portfolio Edition) makes a squealing noise when starting in the morning. I've done a search here on the forums and it sounds like the issue is a belt (is there more than one belt on the Super V?) or a pully.
Since no yellow or red codes have popped up on my screen as a result of the noise am I OK just letting it work itself out as it tends to get quiet after the car warms up?

I have the same issue. I think all of them do it. There was a TSB to replace the belt and one of the idler pulleys, but I think if you can live with the noise, no harm is done. Someone else please chime in if it's not true!
I have a 2005 XJR and I have the same problem but I also have a sound that lasts between 30 seconds and 1 minute at start-up when its below freezing temperature. The sound seems like a valve that is closing or opening and its situated at the front of the car. Any ideas?

Thanks for the info on the squeal. Do you think that my aftermarket guarantee would cover this item?
Anybody has an idea on the valve noice (doesn't last more than a minute) situated at the front of the car when I start the car and its below freezing temperature?
Thanks all for your help
Serge
