Default Supercharger removed, what did I get myself into!

Well, after a few frustrating hours I got the supercharger removed. Attached a pic for proof. The hardest part is getting to everything on the back side of the SC. The EGR is a major PITA. In case you're wondering, I had to remove the SC so I can rebuild the snout. It was making a rattling noise at idle. I opened the snout up this morning and found that the spring loaded coupler was broken. So now its a matter of rebuilding the snout with the kit I bought. I splurged a little and got the low friction ceramic bearings and performance seals.

But now the real headache is about to begin. I'm going to have to put it all back together. I made the mistake of rushing through the removal of everything and not keeping track of hose locations. Does anybody have a pictures or diagrams showing the routing of the coolant hoses to the EGR and the throttle body?

I also need to order some of the vacuum hoses and coolant hoses that go to the EGR and throttle body because the hoses were hard as a rock and broke during the removal. I can't seem to find any parts listing for the throttle body hoses on the dealer websites.

Any help you could provided on the installation of the supercharger would be great. I already have the SC R&R guide but its a little lacking on the details.

Now I need to find a diagram for the vacuum hoses and see if I can order some of them.

Jagbits.com has the hoses and they are a sponsor of the forum. I know I just ordered all the parts to do the heater hoses on my Jag. This is the only time I am glad I didn't get a XKR

The supercharger uses a special turbine oil for high speed bearings, engine oil would not work well. The snout gears and bearings are lubed by a sump with turbine oil, the rear bearings are permanently lubricated.

I'm a stranger from the S-Type forum but does this engine have the coolant pipe that runs in the vee (valley) under the SC - change it if it does! Posts by ttwotees may help as he took a lot apart on his STR.

It changed in construction at some point and at least the earlier form tends to leak after a while. I don't know if the later version also does but I'd swap the hose for a newer one while in there.

The tech Brutal says to slot one of the mountings (I think it's the rear one) for easier reinstall if you hunt through the thread.

yes, I know about the turbine oil.

But I don't see any oil hoses for the snout in the pic. IIRC the engine oil capacity is a bit higher for SC engines

It may be higher capacity because of the oil cooler.

The SC block is not the same and has extra oil passages and an external oil cooler that accounts for the extra oil

Cheers

I believe I answered that in my post, it is lubed by a special oil, not engine oil.

So an update, I borrow my friends press and rebuilt my supercharger snout. Only took about 30min to press in the new bearings. I went with the low friction ceramic ball bearing kit. I got the kit from Rolling Performance Home.

And now I just finished repairing my intake elbow. Here's a link to the thread I made on how I did the repair. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ng-fix-105997/.

Now on to the next project.

Well, got something else done today while I'm waiting for parts. Intake is nice and shiny now.

Does anybody know where I can get the short tube that connect the intake to the throttle body?

Still waiting for some coolant hose before I can attempt to put everything back together, so I had some spare time to further polish my intake. This time I used an actual polishing wheel with some metal polish. Came out really nice using the correct tool. Hopefully my parts show up this week and I can start putting it all back together this weekend.
