Default Vehicle not ready for E-Check

Two not yet completed diagnostics.
Comprehensive Components, & Evaporative Systems.
But no light, or pending codes.
Battery is in good shape, & has not been disconected in over a year.
Keep a battery tender on, when its not being driven.
So that the voltage always stays up
Car runs fine, any ideas of W T F is going on?

Drive it for about 30 - 60 minutes in 4 and D.

Try to get the Evap to set and then the Comp should set right behind it.

Fuel 1/4 to 3/4 level. Outside temp must be above 40 degrees F.

Car cold.

Start car - turn on AC, get to normal operating temperature. Get to a highway. Accelerate to 50 mph while having the tach hit 3.5K RPM during acceleration for 5 seconds.

Cruise for 10 mins between 50 - 60 mph

Then cruise for another 10 mins between 60 - 65 mph.

Come to a stop, let engine idle for.a few minutes, while putting shifter from P to R to N to D, then 2, 3, 4, 5 then back to D, N, R and P - hold each for 10 seconds.

Let car idle for 1 more minute in P then shut off engine.

Most of the time - works on first attempt; may need a second attempt.

Good Luck

Thanks i will give it a try.
4th & drive seems strange to me.
As i never drive in 4th, or 5th only in drive
Seems odd though, no light or pending codes.
They will no longer tail pipe test vehicles.
So i really need to get this accomplished.

Believe i have figured out my problem.
I pay no attention to the fuel gauge.
As it will go to reading empty, with the lite on.
With the tank full of fuel.
Then back, attempting to read the level.
It happens way more often now.
Knowing how many miles since last fill up.
With the M P G, i know how much is needed to fill the tank.
Then just zero the tripometer till next time.
Forgetting what the gauge reads.
I know how much fuel there is in the tank
BUT the computer most likely bases the fuel level, on the gauge.
Guess i will have to attempt to access the fuel pump electronocs.
Looks like another new adventure awaits me.
Glad i have some time, till E-Check time next year.

You are correct--if the fuel sender is not reading correctly or intermittent, the PCM won't be able to run the evap test.

Until the OBD monitors set many codes cannot be flagged. (Not to say your car would have any codes even if they were set, but instead to make you aware not to expect (many) codes until you get the monitors to set.)

The fuel tank level gauge problem is likely
due to corrosion of the contacts or the thing
is not floating properly due to deterioration of the foam float.

The gauge is clipped onto the outside of the plastic bucket
and could probably be removed without removing the whole bucket.

Well it appears that by keeping the tank a little over half full.
Driving for several 40+ mile drive cycles.
The gas gauge is behaving well, with no instrument codes.
The emissions, finally regestered an OK.
Leaving just comprhensive component to clear.
Hoping to get the all clear soon, for the dreaded E-check.
Car is getting 25+ m p g, so there is no real issue.
Just those level senders sending faulty readings to the gas gauge.

Had the same issue failed inspection 7 times in NJ. Met with Tom from Bolletier Auto (BAAS-NJ.COM) he found that the throttle voltage was off. Corrected in two weeks where took 6 months at two different Jag dealer who couldn't fix it. I was told same drive it, should reset never happen. This guy worked at Jaguar for 20 plus years.

Well after replacing both sender units.
As well as the pump while i was there.
Fuel gauge seems to be working well.
Keeps its reading now, & doesn't go to empty .
Still waiting for the comprehensive components to clear
But now car will not take more than 3/4's of a tank of fuel.
Any idea what is causing this issue???
Am aware of just how much gas is in the tank.
Never had this happen before the repairs, always filled up fine

Well i thought i knew how much fuel was in the tank.
But when i started putting more in with my battery opereted pump.
Quickly realized the tank indeed was full.
With the the gas gauge still reading 3/4 full.
At least its not going to empty, with the warning lite now.
Was very carefull, installing the units or so i thought.
Looks ike i Screwed up somewhere.
Any ideas where???

Well with just one emission not yet cleared, the Jaguar passed the E-check.
That solves my emission issue for now, after two more, all done with them
Still trying to understand why the gas gauge reads 3/4 when its full though.

Well for some reason, after fueling up today.
The gauge went to reading full.
Was very pleased, when that happened
Just curious as to why, it took two weeks to happen.
Any information as to W T F is going on.
Would be much appreciated
