Default Voice activation system and DVD player retrofit, how?

My x350 is 2005 XJ6.
Recently, I want to retrofit a VACM but I can not find any connector for that. Now I have navigation, cd changer and hands free phone system.
Also want a DVD player,too.

Any ideas?

On my car I had the appropriate electrical connectors taped out of the way against the harness in the trunk. You do not appear to have them unfortunately.

Yes I have and I retrofitted a japanese model of SAT NAV with TV function and added smart phone mirror module.
So It seems not have the connector for VACM. So sad.

The D2B network is a loop, so if you don't have a preexisting connector for the VACM, you will have to add an additional connection or two to your loop. The harnesses Jaguar once offered for adding these functions are no longer available, so what I have done is to purchase salvaged D2B harnesses from eBay sellers who are parting out Jags with D2B networks. From the salvaged harnesses, it is a simple matter to disassemble connectors and individual lengths of fiber and to insert them into the existing loop in the car. You just have to keep all your inputs and outputs in the correct order.

There is a specific order of components that some have determined works best, but I think if you search this forum you'll find posts about that. Be sure you get a D2B harness and not a MOST harness.

I think it is important to get the correct module part number for your VIN, which you can check at jaguarclassicparts.com.

Cheers,

Don

One point to make is that the VACM electrical connector will likely be taped up against the wiring loom and difficult to see.

I recently added Voice Activation and Bluetooth connectivity to a 2006 XJR and it did not have a connector labeled VACM, but it did have a connector labeled RSE (Rear Seat Entertainment) taped back on the harness as the VACM connectors are on some cars. When I connected the VACM to the RSE connector it was immediately recognized, so all I had to do to get it working was to install a microphone next to the overhead center console. There was another connector marked BT about 12 inches forward of the telematic stack, but when I connected the phone module there it wasn't recognized. So I modified the main D2B loop with an extra connector for the phone module, attached an aftermarket Bluetooth antenna to the underside of the parcel shelf and all was well.

I'm still not sure what that BT connector was for. Did Jaguar offer a Bluetooth-only module for some model year cars?

The voice activation module and its cutted connector arrived today.
Just retrofitted it according to electronic guide and it works perfectly!
That's really easy to do!

How exactly did you "retrofit" it?

The harness for phone module and voice activation are the same wiring, just taped them on. As you can see, the wiring from roof console should be cut and do jump circuit.

I used the original connector from stype.

I just used the connector from the other Stype (voice activation module schematic are the same).
According the schematics, I taped the harness on my original Phone module wiring and it works.

Ok so you do not need the actual wiring for VACM if you have the phone wiring to splice into with a connector that often comes with a used VACM but just cut.

That is useful to know.

Yes, I believe most of car has prewired phone harness.
As you can see, the schematic that I upload, the phone module has the same wire color, just taped them will works.
There's 6 wire for microphone input voice module and output into phone module.(3 input, 3 output).
My loom is Japanese model so I can not use VACM and Navi together.
Because Japanese model has voice command navigation function and microphone need to input navi module. So if I press the voice buttom on steering wheel, it would jump into voice command mode for navigation and voice activation in the same time. But it would be Navigation command first, I think thats why can not use it if I insert a Japanese Map disc.
It works perfactly so far and all I have to do is to eject my navigation disc of Japanese.
