Water in ECM, Multiple Problems
Don
I have a similar code p0504 on X350 4.2 2007. Think also u0415. I tried the 2 links you sent to recalibrate Brake switches A and B abd s type 2006 electrical guide but they didnt open. Can guide me to where they are saved on the forum.

You want info for your actual car as otherwise it may well be wrong. Please use the right forum.
Try JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource for DTC etc data.

Think my x350 had water dripping from ECU a month or more back. Think water came from around pollen filter and maybe window screen bottle hidden under wheel arch cover plastic. Never managed to undo the wheel arch rear 2 torx screws due to rust on them. Why Jaguar used torx screws on a wheel arch is ridiculous. They should have used hex bolts.
So how to get at ECU and check is dry. 1 take pollen filter out and unclip its holder. May need to take top cowl and wopers off for accrss. Think there is 2 ECU plugs into engine bay to unclip plus maybe a yorx 5 star T30. Then remove glove box and get at ECU 5 mutiplugs off and maybe 2 bolts.
Then remove ECU and investigate if it has got water in it..
So if water was around ECU was it from the water bottle or from rain.
May have yet another go at this time drilling the crap torx screws off rear wheel arch liner to weaken the threads. Then use a pair of grips and see if I can get them out to see hidden water wash bottle snd any drain tubes.
My car has multiply error dash messages. DSC and ABS not available and parking brake cannot be applied amount others. Principal obdii codes are p0504, u0415 and oddly U0155 lost coms or invalid data and engine idle varies.
I have today changed rear abs sensors, and checked the wires are connected correctly tly to DSC. Tried to check ns front for abs but the connector was routed behind the wheel arch cover. Again crap design of X350 compared to X308 which has the same abs sensors on a 4 wheels. So again rhe bloodly wheel arch cover.
Also notice to ns wheels are low to wheel arches suggesting g either bent height sensors or leaks of air strut bad design **** or the wacko air compressor is loosing its compressor ring ahmgain. The X308 just has steel springs and a hand brake lever. The X350 air susp is crap and highly prone to faults so why did Jagaur put thus design on the X350 and their Land Rovers. Crap design, over complicated useless rubbish.
So do I need to change air compressor yet again. Want to concentrate on investigation ECU module for water as this may explain the list vomms to other modules like instrument moduke, parking brake moduke and the DSC.
Put voltmeter acrisd earth points at front to see if change in voltage to check these were ok along new battery volts.
I tried ti investigate J gate as maybe the position is not getti g sensored properly but again crap design ment I could not get the gear level out without dismemberment half the cars consol and satnav out. Unlike x308 that easier to take out and swap or check electrical connection that sensor the gear levers position. So just put the torx screws back and have up.
Took rear wheels off car and they parking brake was locked on firmly so error message it cannot supply parking brake is crap. Although lhe pads I fitted whete worn down to say 3mm yet front pads fitted same time where 7 to 8mm. Suggests parking isn't retracting when driving. Again crap design of epb and not using a cable and racket lever.
Happy days to come hopefully.
Think there is a guy in Essex Tim Revett that may be able to deal lost .comms or ABS DSC faults or a JLR independent garage near Chingford. But for now I just I vestigating the car to see if I can get rid of atleast one error message.
Any one interested in my post, let me know or if you resolved your error messages and codes.

Hi Ken,
I have moved your posts from the forum for the S-Type to the forum for the X350.
Unfortunately, when Grahm (GGG) left due to frustrations dealing with Internet Brands, we lost the paid Mediafire account where many of the large reference documents were hosted.
Try jagrepair.com to see if our member Gus has any helpful documents available at his website.
When I have more time, I will review your posts and try to help.
Cheers,
Don

Your water leak will have come from a blocked drain
under the pollen filter.
A very common fault
Just remove 'box' around pollen filter and the main plug to the ECU will be revealed
Need security torx to remove plg and then remove ECU pcb

Hi Ken,
Unfortunately, the forum lost many of the large reference files when Graham (GGG) left in frustration over illogical interference by Internet Brands. Graham was personally paying for the Mediafire account where these files were stored, and understandably, he stopped paying for the account in protest of Internet Brands' indefensible interference in forum operations.
You can find many helpful documents at jagrepair.com, hosted by our forum member Gus.
The electrical connector on the ECM is secured by a 5-point security Torx, which means the five-lobed recess has a round pin in the middle, so your five-point security Torx bit has to have a hole in its center. I purchased a full set of 5-point security Torx bits from ebay. To access the ECM connector, the cabin air microfilter housing must be removed. I am usually able to get the microfilter housing out by just removing the fasteners on the right end of the cowl and moving it up out of the way. The windshield wipers and cowl do not have to be removed.
Inspect the electrical connector pins for water, corrosion, bridging, etc. If you see signs of water ingress, to remove the ECM from the vehicle you remove the glove box and work from inside the right footwell. The ECM sits on a shelf behind the glovebox. I think there are good instructions with photos posted in the X350 forum.
Clean the water drain near the ECM, which often becomes clogged with leaves and seeds, which allows rain and carwash water to pool to ECM height.
The Torx fasteners used on the wheel arch liners are common to many other automakers these days (BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, etc.). They have the advantage of having lower-profile heads than standard hex-head screws, and they hold more securely than the plastic push-rivets used by most automakers.
The air suspension was not designed by Jaguar. It is the Wabco ECAS system with Bilstein air spring/damper units re-branded as ECATS by Jaguar. I have rebuilt the systems on several X350s and can say from personal experience that when these suspensions are new, they provide a ride that is as good as or better than any Mercedes, BMW or Audi saloon, or anything else short of a much heavier Bentley or Rolls Royce. There are numerous wear parts in the system, so when they get to be 10 years old or so, components begin failing. That doesn't make it a bad design.
The Electric Parking Brake is also not a Jaguar design, but it certainly is a common source of problems. Jaguar issued a Technical Service Bulletin with various solutions for common problems. The TSB may be available at jagrepair.com.
The differences between the X350 and X308 reflect the kinds of changes that have occurred at every luxury-performance automaker. In order to compete for customers while complying with ever-stricter fuel economy and emissions standards, automakers have had to use lighter materials and higher-technology, less-durable engines, transmissions, suspensions, etc., and more complex electronic and computer-controlled systems. Automakers today cannot afford to build a vehicle like the X308, and with its low stance, tight cockpit, poor fuel economy and high price, few customers would want one anyway. I own an X308 and have owned an X350 and I consider the X308 to be the better-looking and more durable car, but in many ways the X350 is the better car.
If you can sort out any water damage to your ECM, some of the other problems may take care of themselves.
Cheers,
Don

Also, to add to these posts, while you're at it, check all of your grounding points, as they have been known to cause many electrical issues.

Hi
Just a recap on ECU. Got ECU out and it was dry so no sign of water. Will put it back on car tommorow and its 2 harness multi plug connectors via bulkhead and reconnect battery and put key in ignition to see if multi error dash message are still there.
As getting multiple dash error message from parking brake cannot be set or DSC not available I think I will recheck earth points especially battery main earth point as I think it was weak and could snap off aluminum body. Thinking of drilling a hole glfor a steel bolt if can get access to put a bolt in as a alternative earth point in boot.

Thanks for your reply. Took out ECU and found it was dry.
I note your comments on my gripes on JLR design of over complicated parking brake and air susp systems which seems to cause multiple problems on later XJ s and Range Rovers like L322 compared to X308.
