Can you tell me more about this? I purchased my car last year, and I’m sure it hasn’t seen the inside of a dealer in years. What would i actually ask them to do, and what benefits could I expect?

The dealer will probably not replace the ECU or TCM unless either under a warranty, Factory Recall or if the ECU and/or TCM are fully diagnosed not functioning. Most dealers have a flat fee for diagnosing and upgrading to the last factory revision and I have found it is quite reasonable, less than $200 at some dealers.

Of course if you tell them you want to replace them regardless I am sure they will probably gladly accept your money - expect all that work to total in the range of $8k-$10K performed and warranted through a dealer, IF the dealer can locate the all new Jaguar Parts.

Note that a JLR dealer will only use New Genuine Jaguar parts, and can only substitute if there are no factory approved parts available. Most of that is due to liability issues.

Now if you have a friendly chat with the shop manager they might look for and reprogram used parts, but I doubt they will warrant them other than the labor.

 

Ah. So it's "Check my ECU and TCU and be sure I'm running the latest software?"

I think I may need to invest in this! Is there a way to see what dates revisions came out so that I can check against the last time my car was in a dealership (according to CARFAX)?

I would imagine now days the dealer will do mostly what you asked as long as its not outside their liabilities. And a Manager may do anything but have you sign a waiver. I have a JLR/SDD updated to 2017. So I didn't need the dealer. Here in Miami they do not care. As long as you are paying, lol. Though I must say if you have a good rep with an advisor, cash will get the tech to do whatever, IJS. I believe investing in. JlR is a good idea. You can do so much more.

 

During the last weekend, I was doing some changes in the interior, I was curious about combine others colors and I put a Black center console instead of the original because I wanted to have a better match with the stereo, I replaced the doors panels; I bought the material and made them, since that was my first time working with this kind of materials I think turned out well, I did the same with the center console, but just the bottom.

I have some others ideas for the trunk, but that will be later in a few weeks.

I had my premium entertainment system upgraded. First of all I had Jagdroid installed in my original Navigation system. As a result :

New touchscreen with HD resolution was installed
Android capability was added
BT Audio receiver dongle was installed to stream audio from the phone
A rearview/backup camera was added
Underseat Subwoofer was added
I added a converter to enable Apple Carplay
Attaching some photographs of the car that I washed today and the modified entertainment system

I have been noticing a vibration in the rear end at highway speeds.So I finally checked it out and found the problem.The upper control arms and half shafts were shot. So I replaced them..

Changed both half shafts, threw the other one away before picture

 

Nice, you did it by yourself? That's something that I need to check as well.

Yeah, I did it myself. Not a difficult job. Just had to remember to disconnect to brake hose at the calipers.

It's perfectly entitled to request a few replacement parts. Having owned some 89 cars including 25 Jags, 8 BMWs, and 4 Mercedes Benz, it never ceases to amaze me how well X350s and X358s stand up to time and miles. It can be difficult to tell a 50,000 mile car from a 250,000 mile one without checking the odometer.

 

Currently trying to get the airfilter hose out of the plummerfitting on the original compressor (the one near the piston)
oil change is done the new compressor with dryer is waiting to get running

 

Spray connection with a bit of WD40 - use the open end of a 12mm wrench - press down on the fitting, while pulling tube out.

 

Laid a 12 then a 14 and a 16 on top of each other to give it some slight tapping with a hammer while using a prytool underneath the hose.
i already have a next idea for tomorrow.
i also opened and removed the bore /piston section and sprayed some dw 40 from underneath
