I knew my lights were a bit high but when I replaced the H7's people were flashing me

so I adjusted the low beams.

With the car in the garage, the door shut and lights pointing at the door, I adjusted them

down a bit. Not very technical but should be ok.

Still had a slight vibration at 65+ so decided to replace the front hub bearings. At 98,000 figured it was time anyway. The old bearings felt ok and were tight but the new ones eliminated the vibration that I could feel in the wheel. Detroit axle on ebay has them as a package of 2. They look good so will see how they hold up.

I've been running those Detroit Axle hubs for about a year now with no issues. Good deal.

Andy's kit was a piece of cake to install. Removing the compressor's intake tube clamp was a PITA!

Next up is figuring out how to aim my high beams..
Try a Harbor frt. Long handle needle nose @ 4 bucks.

Just a wash to get the car ready for a classic car rally at Trentham Gardens near Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday 18th June. Started at 20.00 and was finished by 21.15. It was mainly just air and rain-borne dust. I had previously cleaned the front seat leather and vacuumed the interior. It's a pretty good looking car for 10 years old ! Last of the Sir William Lyons style of 1968.
There are 2 adjustment screws on each side. I did it last year. They are accessed without removing the upper cover with an Allen Wrench. The outboard ones adjust up and down and the inboard ones adjust side to side. The low beams and the high beams are adjusted together. I have the low beams adjusted properly but the high beams are too low! If you adjust the high beams properly then the low beams are too high! If you find out how to adjust them separately, please post it.

At the same time we disabled the Cat monitoring (I have 100cspl cat converters) and removed the minicats from the exhaust and applied a new tune (still testing more to cone on that latter)

Air suspension fault: Changed pump, still have fault light and message. Relatively new Arnotts, front sinking overnight. Was going to clean valve block, but hid ballasts? I wanted two pumps, trying to make air susp. work.
Update: replacement pump has solved above mentioned issues. Old original pump is being rebuilt as a swap in the maintenance future.

As I've only had my XJ6 for about a month, I have a whole list of jobs I'm slowly working my way through. Nothing serious needs fixing except "play in the nearside steering rack inner joint" was flagged as an advisory on the MOT prior to purchase. Other than that it's just stuff I want to tidy or slowly improve.

Today was simply putting back the dried out carpet mats I'd had out the car to clean. I used
Astonish Shampoo For Carpets & Upholstery Astonish Shampoo For Carpets & Upholstery
and was extremely impressed at how clean my carpet mats came up.

Good to hear, im surprised at how basically worthwhile and earnestly good these cars actually are.

Had the lower front control arms replaced and a new set of tires. Now she rides as smooth as new.

Also replaced the thermostat and housing. Just in time for hot summers in NY/NJ traffic jams with the A/C on.

Just installed a new set of spark plugs (94,300 mile). Was not as painful as I had anticipated, with the use of multiple extensions and universal joints was able to remove and install all plugs without dismantling any of the cowling, wipers or any other body panels. Just go slow, take your time and it's not a hard project, even No. 8 cylinder.

I replaced my coolant expansion tank yesterday. The little plastic hose fitting on top broke, as usual.

I also finished replacing my subframe bolts. No more clunks or suspension noises!

Chasing an ASF I removed and inspected the #6 (suspension compressor) relay. Nothing found, as of yet.

Also opened the air box to replace the filter in this new-to-me car only to find the dealer had beaten me to it. Good to know they actually did some refurbishing work before they sold it to me.

My hood (bonnet!) struts were making a loud nasty groan while opening and closing, so I sprayed some WD40 on them and now we have silence again.

Default I pulled out hoses

I had The coolant reservoir hose develop a crack on me, while driving. I MacGyver'ed it with a knife from Walmart. The next day, I broke the plastic tip on the overflow reservoir taking the damaged hose off. After a week the new reservoir arrived, and I decided, while I was in there, I would replace all the hoses and the thermostat and thermostat housing.

I have all the hoses, but one, hopefully the dealer can identify it for me, so I can get her back together soon.

WD is a good, non messy lube. I also like 'blaster' silicone w teflon, and a host of others.
