Default What transmission is interchangeable with my model?

Hi everyone so I finally decided that I would like to source a used transmission for my 2005 jaguar super v8. The vin is SAJWA82B55TG33415. It has the 4.2 supercharged engine and is a LWB model.

I found a used transmission that came off of a 2006 XKR but I want to make sure that it is interchangeable with my model before purchase.

When I reached out to the breaker that is selling the part this is the response I got “Unfortunately according to your VIN I do not think it will work. It looks like it starts G33575 and your VIN is G33415. There is a chance that our program is not accurate. Maybe check with the dealer? There is a photo of the part number on the tranny”

I would appreciate any insight. Would like to get my car driving again!

I understand that I will have to remove the control body from the valve body on my current transmission and install on the “new” transmission is that correct?

So you’re saying the 2006 xkr transmission will work on my 2005 super v8? I’m thinking it should a direct swap but want to make sure before I go through with the purchase

sorry to be so dense but what is a rear tripod? Also why do you recommend transmissions out if those models?

from what I can gather from JEPC and jaguarclassicparts.com, the part numbers are different c2c4595 (2005 xjr) and c2c27748 (2006xkr) vin range specific but are interchangeable according to jaguarclassicparts.com diagram. 2007 xkr is part number c2p2156 but doesn't list as compatible with any other models but XKR X150 models so unsure if it will work.

Thanks, Fritz

I ordered a 100k miles transmission from a 08 XKR, I hope it works.

This is the email I received from jaguar classic parts

"Hello Sir,

I only work with part number and can advise the following. I don't know what they differences between the three are, or whether they are interchangable. However, as I stated previously, the correct transmission for your X350 is still available.

XK8 (X100) VIN - SAJDA42B763A46716, had transmission Part No. C2C27748E
XJ SV8 (X350) VIN - SAJWA82B55TG33415, had transmission Part No. C2C24595E
XK (X150 VIN - SAJWA43CX89B23000, had transmission Part No. C2P2156E"

This is the info I have from JEPC (jaguars electronic parts catalog)

Jaguar XJR (X350 4.2 Supercharged)

Jaguar XKR (X100 4.2 Supercharged)

Jaguar XKR (2007 X150 4.2 Supercharged)

Ok, this is the generally available information from the JLR parts catalog, so the parts are only interchangeable with certainty if they have the exact same part number.

Thanks anyway,
Fritz

Can confirm that a 2008 xkr transmission works in my 2005 super v8. Swapd original TCM into 2008 xkr transmission.

stran, great news. Did they clear the Transmission Adaptations right after the swap? How is it working now that you've driven it more?

Just want to report back. My new to me transmission has been running perfectly. I sourced an XKR transmission from 2008. I have SDD software and chose to clear adaptations and do a firmware update.

Shop transferred my original TCM into the 08 XKR transmission.
