Hi everyone, I want to change the eng9oile to my xj8 4.2 2003, and don't have the book.I saw different specifications and different oils used ,also what key I need to take the oil filter off.Thank you.
Here is the relevant page from the UK Driver's Handbook. I've sent a PDF copy of the Driver's Handbook to the eMail address you have registered with the forum.
Note that the specification and viscosity are the important criteria. Castrol is a premium brand recommended by Jaguar because they have a commercial contract with them. Any premium brand motor oil meeting the specification is suitable.
Sounds right, mine holds a little over 6 quarts. Oil specs have evolved since 2003. SN is the latest spec.
Been using European Castrol 0-w40. In the XJR, A8, and 335i.
Changed the other cars over Rotella Truck 0-w20. It is 21.68 per 5 quart jug at Walmart. May change to the Rotella 5-w30 In the European cars when all the Castrol runs out.
But all this is overkill. Any brand synthetic speced SN is better than required.
