X350 (Mass) Air Flow Sensor C2S 2670
Greetings,
I experienced recurring code for a faulty air flow sensor, Jaguar part number C2S2670. The engine was prone to drop revs on load, ie the car would, on occasion, hesitate on acceleration.
After searching here and some discussions; it seemed the part was manufactured by Denso. Having seen it, I can confirm that was the case with my normally aspirated North American spec '06 XJ .
My mechanic caution against use of an aftermarket replacement as he found them to be problematic.
Further research developed the Denso part number, short, as 974-2000, long 197400-2000. The Denso part number for sale through its distribution network for retail sales is 197-6020.
The sensor that was replaced did not have any of aforementioned part numbers on it. I understand that the is practice of Denso.
The new air flow sensor has been fitted and the engine is all the better for it. More responsive than it was and does not hesitate on load and no longer produces the fault code.

And, as Mr. (Ms. ???), meirion1 asked "Did you try cleaning it first?"
Danke schön.
Hello,
No, I didn't attempt to clean it, The mechanic I deal with didn't think it worth trying.
The part number is printed on the box. I don't recall that is marked on the part itself, either the original or the replacement.

I recently installed the Denso 197-6030 MAFS from Parts Geek on a 2005 XJ8L, which was the final resolution to P0171 and P0174 lean running codes (after replacing nearly all of the O-rings in the air intake and breather systems). I did try cleaning the MAFS first, but cleaning had only a slightly positive effect. I also tried an inexpensive SKP MAFS first, and the fuel trims actually got worse. Installing the new Denso part brought the fuel trims back down close to 0 and resolved the issue. Parts Geek carries two Denso MAFS for the N/A X350, and the one I purchased was the slightly less expensive one, at around $110.00.
