Default XJR Badge / Emblems

Hello all,

I am currently in the process of detailing my lovely machine. While polishing the paint, I realized that all three of my XJR badges look crappy. The clear plastic over the top is delaminating and peeling and the colors look bad. I'd like to replace all three, the larger one on the boot, and the two smaller R's on the lower front fenders. I spent a little time looking online for replacements but didn't find much, just one place in the UK, and they're kind of pricey.

Do any of you have suggestions for a source to buy replacement emblems?

This is a google image search for what I'm looking for:

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi MrWhite,

Those badges show up on eBay, and the side R emblems in particular tend to be more affordable from eBay sellers. The badges are also available from Jaguar dealers, such as gaudinjaguarparts.com in Las Vegas:

The large XJR badge for the trunk/boot is part number C2C17377:

NAMEPLATE for 2004 Jaguar XJR|C2C17377

The smaller side R emblems are part number C2N2446 (same both sides):

NAMEPLATE for 2004 Jaguar XJR|C2N2446

Cheers,

Don

Thanks Don, I really appreciate your help. The part numbers will be a big help.

Wow... $130 for three tiny badges??? I was not expecting that.

Damn, I really want to change these, but I'm not paying that.

I'll keep searching.

I just found these on MinaGallery, but they're not quite the same:

Anyone here know how these are actually attached? Specifically the one on the trunk.

MrWest,

As alecescolme says, I have found in the past that most are attached with a double sided adhesive tape. The tape is about 1/16 - inch thick and made of a spongy foam material. Sometimes there are also small studs on the back of the emblem that go into holes in the car body to correctly locate the emblem (though this is rarer).

To remove the emblems, I've used dental floss before. I've also heard that you can use fishing line. Saw gently behind the emblem to cut through the foam. Once the emblem is off, you'll have a mess to clear up as the residue can be hard to remove. Goof-Off or other citrus based sticky remover has worked for me.

Most new emblems should come with new foam adhesive already attached, but if not you'll need to get some. Don't use regular house hold double-sided foam tape as it might not last very long. Check your local auto parts store to see what they have instead. 3M makes a good one for mounting these or other body trim pieces.

Hope this helps.

Anyone else have any idea where to get the XJR emblems at a reasonable price?

My badges also degraded, but i never found cheaper versions so just removed them, cleaned the tape off and polished the area. No R advertising now.

I'm toying with the idea of removing the emblems and repainting them by hand and then clear coating them. Not sure yet, but if I do it and it turns out ok, I'll write up a "how to" post. Still I'd really rather just buy new ones, but that price is crazy.

I just put really nice new wing emblems front and back on my wife's genesis, and it cost me less than $30 including shipping.

alecescolme, Thank You soooooooo much!

I've just ordered a set of these. By the time I paid for postage and converted the currency to USD, they cost me a grand total of $19.00. Awesome!

2 down, 1 to go.
