By the relay blowing out is it the motor power fuse # 6 / 20 amp LH engine fuse box or the control # 16 / 10 amp RH heelboard fuse box in the below pic . Or 1 of the 2 relays # 5 or # 6 in the pic .

Dear Lady P

Since "haroldpeacocksr" never replied to you, i'd like to use re-use this thread.

My XJ6 -97 keeps blowing F6 fuse. Even as ignition is turned off, when i insert a new fuse, it.ll blow immediately. Any hints to proceed?

Don't do that anymore

The # 6 / 20 amp fuse at point 71 is hot at all times and does not rely on a king relay or key rotation

All the fuses in the left engine fuse box are hot at all times , not so on the right

Pull the relay # 6 and see if the fuse blows

Pull the relay # 5 and see if the fuse blows

If not remove the motor connector and see if it blows again when you reinstall relay # 5 and # 6 both

There is a diode inside the motor that Tcasmarcus in Norway was able to replace

See post # 19 and # 23 and you can private mail him for details on the part number

You gotta see his video , oh hell ya

Default Progress!

I pulled the relay 6. Fuse blows. Pulled the relay 5. Fuse still intact. So the relay 5 is toasted. Got to buy a new one then. Can i plug 5 plug to 6 relay to be able to use wipers?

The power passes through both relays in wire Yellow so you need both relays to eventually get to wire Blue ( slow ) or wire Red ( fast )

In pulling the suspect relay out and in your hand , the relay itself should read no continuity ( high infinite resistance ) between pin 4 and 5 on the relay in your hand , the pin 4 to 5 should read open

Do the 2 relays have the same part # ?

If so you can swap and see if you get the same results on popping the fuse

The part # LNA6706AA relay is used in many places on the X300 and you can swap it from the headlights ( right # 1 )or fog light ( left # 1 ) position

https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/C50.C5064.C5064317.C50643173823/brand/jaguar/

See item # 1 for swapping options
