Add to Sticky
I want to add this to one of the stickies for troubleshooting error codes. I tried to send an IM to one of the holders of the stickies but their mailbox was full
I want to get this added somewhere and maybe start something that gives TS procedures for different issues.
Troubleshooting P0300/P1313/P1314
This process involves troubleshooting P0300 and P1313(and sometimes P1314) error codes and going from the cheapest to the most expensive. Check your code after every change. After resetting, you must drive at least 15 miles to get it to turn on again. I used the same route, and the light would kick on within feet of the previous check engine light. My issue turned out to be the water temp sensor.
1. Check ECU ground
2. Change the water temp sensor
3. Clean MAS
4. Verify all leaks with a smoke machine ( I used a Solary Smoke machine, and it worked great. I Found all the leaks. ) Pull out your MAS and attach the machine into the air intake.
5. Change plugs.
6. Change Coils
7. Replace O2 Sensors
8. Change ECU
My car would not pass emission testing because it showed never ready. Once I changed the water temperature sensor, it passed. I did not follow this process, and I wish I had. It would have saved me a few bucks.
