Default auto close Sunroof

Luckily my sunroof opens and close but one press of the button at a time. Use to be when you first open or close one press of the button opened and closed it all the way. Now the auto open and close feature does not work. I tried the reset but that did not help. Any suggestions?

It's that time of year again. The sunroofs are always getting the first workout of the year around this time. I've spent a lot of time with those sunroofs and learned many things. What I believe you are describing is the result of the sunroof timing module falling out of place. Just remove the overhead console and inspect the black box up and on the right. If it moves, it fell down and all is our of time.

I uploaded HUNDREDS of TSBs and several are for the sliding roof.
There are lubrication issues and diagnostic charts etc.

You need to search the large file download area (look in the 13 body section).

The X308 sliding roof is the same so all related info will work (look in the 501 body section).

Ok I looked at all the info posted and I am getting closer. Now the sunroof will open with one push but I have to keep pressing it to get it closed. I think when it does open it may be going too far. I made sure the module had the line up of both dots. I had an extra sunroof and contol module and tried those and still the same thing. I tried the tilt for 20 seconds release press again and nothing happens. Any other suggestions?

The 'hold in tilt mode' is for the X400, X202, X350 etc.

The module timing is for the roof CLOSED.
It will return to the closed position if timed properly.

Go back through all the TSBs and JTIS.

the 1-touch close option on mine doesn't work now and then (early in the driving season since I don't drive it much in the winter.). I think it's because of the new headliner being so thick. Once the new headliner gets a little worn in, I think it will work fine.

However!!!! When I did the headliner, it was all screwed up,and I went through the articles that Bob Gauff mentions and found the alignment procedures and all was well.

Well worth the effort.

I didn't need a PDU. I just cranked it manually by had to get it in the fully closed position, pulled the "box" and (IIRC) got the alignment marks set, and replaced the box.

The alignment marks are referenced on Page 7, step 13 here... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...sis-repair-pdf

Hmmm that might be part of the problem tried to crank it manually and it is real difficult. In fact it won't budge. Seems to me that it is going to break if I turn it any harder. But went through just about everything else so may have multiple issues

There's a screw you need to turn first to unlock it from the motor. If you did that, something might be worn and/or binding.
