I am looking for a BPU that is from a car that the country requires daylight running lights. I know Canada-built cars had them, but I'm unsure about any other country. Is the part number different for those countries that require DLRL, which is LNA2500AA? I am not sure if they are all the same and just have been programmed different.

 

I believe most/all Nordic countries require DRL.

 

Off the top of my head there was more involved then the BPU or even the external lamp control module

There was a light sensor and this light sensor is different on the later X308

Is the BPU change for other than the headlights as there is a BPU hard reset

 

I think that all is required is the BPU. I had a Candian Parts car and just moved over the BPU over to Big Red, and it worked. I got the headlight sprayers activated also. I was just wondering if it is a part number or if I just need to get a BPU from any country except Jags that were made for the US.

I looked everywhere for a Canadian BCM, but I had no luck. Did the UK require them? Will it work in a US car? Is there a way to program them so that you can turn them on? I can kick myself for leaving it in my old car.

The round shaped light sensor at the front windshield used on the X300 for the climate control extra effort bias may not work for the auto daylight lost vs. all daylight headlights

The X308 has a sensor different or wired differently front windshield light sensor as the X308 has daylight headlights ( or daylight missing which needs the light sensor )

 

i would love auto lights on.
i personally just always turn my lights onto parkers when i get in the car. easy becomes habit.
one day i may wire an extra ACC relay into the park lights to always have them on.

 

I am going to try these out and see if they work. I wish I could find the Canadian controller. For those who are in Canada and are willing to find one in your local Auto Yard, let me know. Maybe we can do some trading.

The headlight relays are ground seeking and since the ignition switch up front provides a ground ..................................

The LS3 and RS3 connectors are down very low in the corners of the front cabin below the ECU and the opposite corner , this negates the need for the special BPM , purchase and removal

On the ignition switch in the start sequence as you bring the key to the starter enable pin X one of the other ACC pins drops out , the run pin stays active ( ground )

Once you bring it out of start and back to run position the Acc pin position becomes active again ( ground)

For the exterior lights ( 2 modules under the hood for 1995 and replaced by 1 for the later in the boot ) the ACC relay in the trunk fuse box will be provide a ground path through the IG switch to tie into your exterior
lamp module input pins

In this case you can use the ACC relay pulling coil control wire to run the ground seeking external lamp module

There is a concern that too many relay's pulling coils place too much current through the ignition switch contacts ( it's got it's current limits ) so you would place one external piggy back relay to provide the ground path ( as the power contacts ) least the original design king relays in the corners of the fuse boxes drop back open stalling the car

This opens a another approach of using the king relays but you would not want headlights on during starter rotation through the IG switch run position enabled king relays

You can forget about using the ACC relay pulling coil wire in the trunk and LS3 and RS3 connectors and just intersect it at the light control switch assembly wires in the dash for both headlight and exterior lights

 

just FYI on this note. its not as simple as 1995.
not sure of exact VINs and if there was a period when both were done. maybe market dependant.

but my car is FEB 1995 build and has the 1 combined lamp control module
whereas my parts car is AUG 1994 build (must be one of the earliest) and has 2 modules.

Not long after I bought my car I took it to an independent Jag workshop that had a high level OBD reader which could also be used to reprogram the BPU.
When connected to the data port all the available programmable options were available in drop down menus on the reader so I could pick and choose whichever ones I wanted. From memory it was an AutoLogic device but I may be wrong, it was a long time ago. I mentioned to the tech that I might buy one but when he said his cost over $15,000 I shelved that idea.

It might be worth trying to track down a workshop with a similar reader or perhaps a dealer could help out.

There is a list of dealer programmable options in one of the Jag manuals and if I can find it I will post the info.

I finally found someone nearby me who can do that stuff.
he did my tps reset and then had a look around and turned my drive away locking back on cus it had been turned off

In the wiring guide in the exterior light section ( 9 ) there is a VIN # cross over ( bottom right corner )

It may not be in the 95 wiring guide but is in the 96

All you need for DRL's operating is to swap the BPM. Nothing else is needed. Did you look at www.car-part.com for a Canadian wrecker?
