Default Codes 1775 and 1790

I changed my valve cover gasket and spark plug well seals the other day (had a small amount of oil in two of the plug wells & had a misfire in cylinder 2), on the drive back home the car went into limp mode. After getting home I hooked up my code reader but no codes. I drove it about 6 miles the next day and it went back into limp mode and this time I got codes 1775 and 1790. Any thoughts?

The P1775 code simply means the TCU has coded and wants the ecu to turn on the CEL light. Dealer level software can read what code is in the TCM.

The other code is TPS out of range. Good luck on that!

Updating: I parked the car while I was waiting to dig out from the snow storm here on the East coast. When I tried to start it yesterday, the car cranks but won't turn over. After everything I've read about code 1775, it seems to me that the TCM may be telling the ECU to lean out the fuel mixture.

(Backstory: several months ago I got an O2 sensor code but ran some catalyst cleaner through and that took care of the O2 sensor code)

My thoughts are to clean and/or replace the O2 sensors and see if that works after that I guess it would be replacing the TCM? Thoughts?

Nope:
An oxygen sensor will not cause a no start. I suspect you may have a bad TPS. A TPS reading WOT will result in a "no fuel" command.

Hi Brendan,

When a problem develops immediately after I've done some work on the car I first suspect that I've caused the problem myself. One possibility is that you disturbed the electrical connector to the TPS or some other connector while you were doing your gasket job. It would be worth checking all the connectors in the area.

Yep, Don, I missed the part about changing the gasket. I agree with you, Don, a connector is most likely not seated.
