Default Engine bay always live power.

Hey all, I recently got some under bonnet lights from an xj40 which I'd like to out in my x300.

I don't think they ever came on this model but I'm going to install them cause I think they are pretty cool. And I often work out outside in the dark.

So does anyone know a handy place to find always live power in the engine bay? Before I go crazy with the multimeter.

Thanks in advance!

Harry

On my X300 there was a small relay box/fuse box/junction point on the LH inner fender. It had a 12v constant junction post. I think there's a similar box on the RH side as well....but I'm a bit foggy on that.

Cheers

Doug is spot on.

Each under bonnet fuse box has a battery live posts under a rubber cover on the "engine side" of each of those boxes. Just look down the side of each box, and you wil see it.

I use one of them to charge the battery whilst its in storage.

Awesome thanks guys! I'll post a picture when it's done.

Not the most exciting project but somewhat useful. I'll wire them to a switch so I can turn em on if needed

Personally I'd wire a fuse in before the switch, too, as the supply to the fuseboxes is fused at 250A I think. If you accidentally shorted your light the light wires could melt. Alternatively you could look for a permanent battery supply which is via a fuse for something else.
