Default Fuel gauge going wonky

Over the last few weeks there have been a few times that when i start my car the gauge is at empty, and i get the idiot, when i know it is full. I looked at the range and it looks correct.. I shut the car off, sit and wait a minute and start it back up and it is fine. Today I tried that and it should have read half full and it only showed a quarter but over time it slowly moved back. Could this be the sending unit and if so how do i get to it.

The ground point is the aft most behind the battery on the right side

The circuit passes through the troublesome BT4 connector above the fuel tank in position 26 as the X color wire

it will be the one below the # 25 marked in the picure

wow That would be a lot of work and you almost need to do this at a gas station. I will cross my fingers and hope it is just the grounding problem. Thanks for the response though

There is a fuel tank cleaner if the wiper brush on the variable resistor has some organic growth on it

We used a Biobor in the fuel tanks on the airlines but they worked on a capacitance pricipal

I worked on the wing wiring above the # 1 engine on the aircraft ( 17119 ) in Flight 800 a week before it was blown up by a missile

The FAA never asked me about it even though my repair was in a perminate record and should have been asked in the investigation

They wanted to blame it on something other then a missile even though a lot of people saw it rise to it

Behind the large fwd panel in the trunk

The connector is above the fuel tank

Be careful to not break the connector lock pins
