I would recommend a Dell D620 (or better) and an SSD for a faster laptop setup

 

I would not worry about the speed of the processors for the X300.
We were using PDU and the WDS when these cars were in new car warranty.

The WDS uses a Pentium I 233mhz running Windows 98 so there is that to consider.
A new/fast computer will still have to WAIT on the car to respond. (it probably gets bored in between request/reply transfers)

 

Well to say I’m happy is and understatement. I bought the auction and figured if it’s fake I’ll make a claim with eBay ... but it’s real. Aluminum case, all gold inside.

Now I just need to lean on Motorcarman for some software... and either run on my existing XP VM or get an old laptop...

Here’s another VCM, not as cheap but $199 buy it now... my question about it is the wireless card stuck in it. What purpose does it serve?

basically replaces the 10/100 USB ethernet adapter the VCM normally uses. needs a wireless card installed on the PC side. idk if jlr ids can use it

I have a genuine VCM which works well, I have performed both O2 sensor orientation & TPS setting on my XJR with very satisfactory results.
Yes, I would confirm the two ground pins shown are longer.
Have attached six attachments showing points of difference between genuine & Clone VCM's which still seem plentiful.
