Default Installing footwell lights. Door open trigger wire

Kinda soonish i will be installing some footwell lights.
i will be using a kit that plugs into the lighter socket and has both remote control and a bluetooth so i can control it from my android head unit.

but i also wanted to splice into the power wire with a trigger wire so it powers on when doors are opened.
I was thinking i could tap into each door separately and have say drivers door only activate drivers, but that is too much effort for what it is worth.
so i was going to tap into the wire coming from the bcm that turns interior lights on when doors are open.

Now given the RLG from the BCM to turn the lights on is a negative trigger and the lighter is a positve ign switch i think this makes it fairly easy to do
woll upload a diagram of my thoughts in a minute

This is my thoughts.
So the lighter plug essentially goes straight to Lights to provide power when IGN is on

door trigger negative goes into relay,
spits out positive that is spliced into wiring to power Lights when doors are open.
i assume i don’t need both diodes but would need atleast one on the lighter plug before the spice to prevent the relay providing power to the lighter socket circuit (and any other devices plugged into it?”) when doors are open

Ok so getting ready to do this install as i also do my stereo upgrade.

so looking that a dual relay circuit is the best way to go.
so relay 1 is the door trigger switch and is a negative trigger relay.
relay 2 is the ign power (cigar lighter circuit) and is a positive trigger and will provide ground for the relay and the light unit.
m
i think this circuit is a solid circuit and will work perfect.
Please tell me if i am wrong anywhere along the way

ok.
will take some pics later once I finish everything on my car.
but the wiring diagram I made above works perfect.

footwell lights come on as soon as car is unlocked, door is open, they operate just as the interior lights do.
the trigger wire is the RLG on the BCM.
it is a negative trigger as shown by the trigger connecting to pin 85 on the relay.

I also wired these into acc power as shown. with the lighter socket providing the power trigger.

I also used the RLG wire off the BCM and installed a ignition surround light. so that the ignition illuminates when door opened etc.
I did not wire this into the ACC this is only triggered by the BCM.

I ran a power wire from spare fuse 13 in the LHS bonnet fuse box. when i run new circuits i always like to have them neatly wired into the fuse box just like factory.
this fuse 13 now also powers my Dash cam which I just also installed.
hardwired with switchable cutoff 11.7v 12v 12.5v. runs a front cam, a rear cam and a cabin cam.

Default Impressive.

Oh to have paid more attention when studying physics in1960.

My motoring experiences only recently encountered the mysteries of relays and diodes.

I understand the concept that relays avoid having long heavy wiring to the dashboard switches for the likes of headlamps but beyond that I get a bit lost.

Looking at the warm yellowing glow from the 36W headlight bulbs on my MKIV Jaguar, a relay or two would certainly have improved matters. In fact the later ones had heavier cabling. Mine is an early 46.

Which reminds me I must get a new relay for the fuel pump on my X300 as I see the existing blue one has a poor reputation.

just think of relays as switches.
but a switch that does not provide the power to the device.

so that something (or use multiple relays and multiple things) can turn something on.

Batt ----> X

so power goes from battery to X.
but when you only want X to be on under certain conditions ie AUX power or when a door is open, use a relay with the trigger wire matching that circuit.

often used in high power circuits or in circuits with multiple ways they can be activated.

They look awesome at night.

full rgb so can change to any colour.
and 10 levels of brightness.
these pics are on halfway.
Dim is fairly dim.
bright is way tooo much.
