Hello sempire.
I have been looking for a keyless remote myself and have yet to obtain one, so I can't vouch for these instructions...but take a look here:
http://www.jagbits.com/reprogram.html

Post back; I'll be curious to see how it goes for you!
Bob

...just saw xjrguy's response after hitting 'post reply' on mine. There you go!

My fault Bob, they are permanently posted on the forum, I just did not include the link from the TSB thread at the top of this section. (date issue).

This has now been rectified, many thanks again.

TSBs.

I have read those, and replaced the batteries. I do get the LED's blinking. The car goes into training mode no problem. I have the right frequency remote, but still when I hit the arm button when programming. i get no beep.

Any other suggestions? Is there a way to confirm the antenna is hooked up?

Just followed those instructions you posted today to reprogram my remote after the batteries died. The directions were simple and easy and it worked perfectly!

Thanks for this post, really appreciate it! Now that I know it works, I can buy the second remote on eBay that i was looking at; I wanted to be sure that I could reprogram myself before buying it. The dealer I called wanted $150 to do what took me less than 2 minutes thanks to you!

Sempire, just curious, when you changed the batteries in your remote did you use 2 x CR2016's or a single CR2032?

Reason I am asking, I was in your predicament; my batteries died and I did not have any of the 2016's, but I have a bunch of new 2032's which are essentially the same battery, just twice as thick. Since the voltage was the same, I replaced with a single 2032 instead of the 2 x 2016's; It would not register the remote, and I also was successful in getting it into learning mode. The lights were blinking normally on the remote as well. I went out and got the 2 x 2016's and it worked like a charm.

It's been so long that I can't remember anymore. I ended up selling the car shortly after. The instructions seemed to work though..

I'd really love to get my hands on another jag though...

You need to have 6V with the 2 batteries in series. If you use a single 2032 you will only have 3V and it won't work.
